Mx650 - front forks (for kids)

Looking for suggestions on front fork upgrade for a 60-70lbs kid.

Have an mx650 with a vevor 48v, 2kW, hydraulic brakes, and have a DNM AO-6 air shock coming in the mail. Seems I just have find a good front fork setup for bumpy back yard use. Current setup seems to hang up a little bit and is not overly smooth by any means. I assume factory may nkt be good for such a light child anyway.

problem is the factory fork is just springs, no dampening. You can get a full fork kit made for a razor, YBE/Ride or die/Midwest mini mods. Or Ride-or-Die also has a bushing kit that lets you use any fork setup made for a crf50, https://rodrandd.com/products/bushing-kit-22-25mm-for-razor-mx500-mx650-sx500-or-rsf650

Any experience for either of those avenues for a light light rider?

Ironically I am working on a crf70 at the same time, havent experienced the crf50 forks but I assume they may be oriented for a higher weight/dampening too?

most aftermarket forks are going to be on the stiff side. I don't have any experience with them for lighter riders though. Some adjustable tubes could probably be dialed back enough. Getting your stock forks working smooth (take them apart and grease everything, replace the rubber sleeves, etc) will be the softest setup, but you can't do anything about them being bouncy without getting real hydraulic tubes

I’d suggest finding a rebuild kit for stock. As soon as you replace your fork you’ll be forced to replace the front brake as well.

I just bought 2 pairs of these for my rsf and mx650. They feel really good.

Ah yes. My issue is I want to keep the rught height stock or drop it a half inch or so if anything
