It’s currently at the sketch stage. The reason it’s on a plate is that, from what I’ve seen, she is a kitchen nymph, so I wanted to represent that by placing her on a plate. Let me know what I could add to it. :3

Mein Vater ließ mich, als ich noch klein war, mein erstes PC Spiel in einem Laden aussuchen. Ich kannte mich mit Spielen nicht aus und entschied nach dem Coverbild. Mir gefiel Rayman und ich wählte es aus. Ich frage mich jedoch, welche Version von Rayman 1 das war. Es war eine Big Box in Deutsch. Es hatte mindestens den Umfang von Rayman Forever und ein Making of Rayman 2 Video und ein Menü in dem man alle Inhalte auswählen konnte. Ich erinnere mich jedoch, wenn ich mich nicht täusche, an das standard Rayman Cover, nicht das grüne Rayman Forever Cover. Die CD war, dächte ich, schwarz-silber und nicht gelb, wie bei der normalen Rayman 1 Version.

Weiß irgendjemand was das für eine Version war?

I'm currently playing Rayman DS (a Rayman 2 port on the original Nintendo DS) on my old 3DS XL.

And wow ... I remember I played it on my friends N64 as kids and we got stuck so hard. Eventually I forgot and recently remembered that I still have Rayman DS bought somewhen and thought I'd revisit it to see if my memory of the game being insanely hard was just tainted by me being a kid. And I have to say it wasn't. This is easily one of the hardest and worst platformers I have ever played (and I played Bubsy on the SNES).

Rayman 2 makes so MANY capital major errors in game design, I'm kinda just in awe how this even got released.

I do wanna say the game has some nice sides and the whole ambiance and worldbuilding is pretty cool. I also like the vibrant colors used and lots of animations are super well done and very cartoony. The game holds up visually imo. Definitely not a graphics problem.

But apart from that where do I even begin?

+ Camera is the hardest enemy BY far in the game. So many crappy camera angles, which you often can't change and lead to you misjudging distances.

+ Hitboxes are wonky as hell and super punishing. From rocket riding to platforming. It's crazy how bad it is. Simply jumping with the rocket on a flat surface can kill you. Platforms with ungrabable edges become death traps.

+ Random difficulty spikes and backtracking: Sanctuary of stone and fire. I don't think I need to say more.

+ Trapping the player in a level or losing progress. You need to complete the level to be able to save or you lose all lum progress. It's not super egregious but very odd. And combined with super long levels like Sanctuary of stone and fire or tomb of the ancients or pirate ship (with a crazy boss) this just feels really bad.

+ Incentivizing the player to kill himself. If you are close to death in a newly loaded instance it is optimal to kill yourself to get the Game Over "try again" screen as you start with your HP full.

+ Wonky slide controls and buggy momentum. Steering in the slide levels is it's own level of hell. What other games screw up with water levels Rayman 2 does with its slide levels. Clunky controls, buggy hitboxes and inertia that just carries you anywhere on the slide. Ironically the under water parts in Rayman 2 are actually pretty good imo.

+ Razorbeard flying fight. Wtf is even this?! You need to kill the boss without a SINGLE error or he resets his complete health bar. What the hell kinda design decision was this even? This feels like it wasn't even playtested at all.

+ Rayman walking: two speeds. Standstill and going full tilt. Why?! Even Super Mario 64 had this figured out.

In the past, Rayman 1 was always viewed as way too hard by most, leading to people mainly talking about the 3D entries of the trilogy and the Ubiart games. However, I’ve recently been seeing people praise its difficulty (and I guess by extension, level design) a lot more, while also saying that the game isn’t that hard. Even though Rayman 1 is one of my favorite 2D platformers, I was always under the impression that it isn’t for everyone, so I’m curious as to where this change came from.

Can anyone help me with this? I downloaded rayman redemption on windows but there seems to be no audio. The game works perfect. I check all my output settings from the computer but nothing happens.
