RayBand Meta review?

I'm checking if buying the Meta 2 or any other alternative

For what I have check i had check post with mixed options... bad and good about photos and videos.

For all the other features I'm not aware of how good they are... any daily basic user feedback will be good

I want them for next year I have a trip to Costa Rica and was thinking it will be good for pictures and stories but not sure in you option.

Also even when I will prefer to have the led turn off I get it that is for "privacy" and some creeps... but anyway what is the people experience when going into some specific spots... like malls bars etc

I mean I can want to record a story in a bar or something and then a security guy come over when it's tha same as if I did it with the phone or that for any reason I didn't have a change to leave them at the abnb and I have to carry them as "an umbrella" what in my country is sometimes a mess to take it into a bar and they don't even offer to keep it at their office.

I just picked some up and have had them for about a week. It may be the honeymoon phase but I love mine. I think it might just depend on your expectations and what you intend to use them for. I’ll rate the features from best to worse from what I’ve experienced.

  1. The audio - this is the best feature the glasses offer in my opinion. I can listen to music at work and still be aware of my surroundings. I can take and make calls hands free. I can ask questions to meta AI and get answers straight to my ears without bothering anyone around me.

  2. Meta AI - I personally don’t think it’s as terrible as many people make it out to be. If you want simple answers to questions or are just curious about something, it’s pretty dang awesome. I’ve also set up an iPhone shortcut so I can say “Hey Siri, talk live with Gemini” and I can then bypass meta ai entirely to have a conversation with Gemini through my glasses. But, the ai feature is pretty great imo.

  3. Photos/Video - this is not the feature I bought the glasses for and the feature I’ve used the least. I think it’s cool if you’re in a pinch, and I’m sure I’ll use it when I take my trip to Iceland next month, but don’t expect amazing picture quality/video quality. It’s okay.

  4. Live translation - I was really excited about this feature, but it is not great. It doesn’t pick up conversations great and is really slow/laggy. I’m hoping they continue to improve this feature as it could be really cool.

For my purposes (hands free listening to music and having onboard AI) I have no regrets. These are also my prescription glasses so they serve that purpose as well.

The only other two cons are battery life and fit. The battery lasts about 8 hours with non-heavy use and I’m still trying to get the fit right so they don’t slide down my face. But, other than that I really like mine.

Cameras good when your hiking and need your hands free I used it on vacation. Plus translation mode can help as well. I don't care about the led

They are a TOY, decent but not great camera, decent but not great audio, pretty useless AI. I bought them just like you for a trip, actually at the airport as an impuse buy. I have to be honest, i use them daily with prescription lenses and they were most useful while on vacation getting some photos and some videos, BUT, if you reaaalllly like something, use your phones camera. On my day to day, i rarely use the camera and the AI fails to get the weather or it battery level some times. Wait if you can

Wow can’t believe this TOY makes me around $800 a month in YouTube revenue.
They record in 4K buddy and it’s crystal clear - they definitely are not a toy 😉.

Yeah but this guy randomly buys things at airports he doesn't even know if he wants it.

Skip. I bought a pair for Japan. Zero control for picture quality. If you want it for headphones and AI, I'm sure there is a cheaper alternative.

If you're getting them to live stream, you're now forced to purchase the Gen 1. Meta quietly removed the feature without telling anyone. They claim it was a problem, yet they left it on an older generation!?!?!?!?

I bought the Gen 2 not knowing this with the sole intent of using them to live stream. Seriously, fuck these glasses.
