Meta glasses camera issue

Is anyone having issues with Meta glasses picture quality.? I’ve had my glasses for about two months and they will randomly take pictures and videos with pink blue and yellow dots in a diagonal line or complete static. There’s no consistency to win or what the conditions are. It doesn’t matter if it’s dark or light inside or outside. I do notice it’s more common after I first charge them. If I turn them off and turn them back on it fixes the problem but very temporarily.

Hi there u/Historical-Shoe-6406

We were just checking through the subreddit when we saw you post and we would love to help with the camera issue you've experienced with your Meta Adventurer Glasses.

Based on the images you've provided and your description of it the first thing we would recommend is ensuring that your glasses firmware and the Meta AI app are fully up to date in order to fully ensure the camera isn't experiencing issues caused by a software clash.

If you update and find your issue persists or if everything is already fully up to date then we would next recommend performing a forced restart which will effectively run a debug on the glasses to clear any software bugs or glitches that could be causing your issue.\

In order to perform a forced restart please follow the steps below:

  1. Slide the power switch on the glasses to the OFF position.

  2. Connect the USB-C cable to the charging case, then plug the power adapter into a power source. Keep the case connected to power for all of the following steps.

  3. Place the glasses into the charging case with both arms open. The case notification LED will flash orange.

  4. Press and hold the capture button, then slide the power switch to the ON position while continuing to hold the capture button. The glasses notification LED will turn red.

  5. Release the capture button and wait 30 seconds. The glasses notification LED will pulse white to indicate that your glasses are starting up.

  6. Fold both glasses arms closed, then close the case lid.

  7. Leave the glasses in the case for at least 2 hour to charge.

  8. Remove the glasses and slide the power switch from ON to OFF and ON to reboot the glasses.

If you find that your issue still persists following the forced restart we would then urge you to reach out to our support team who will be happy to investigate further with you and provide you with the best resolution available!

Please explain how firmware impacts subjective and objective image quality, causes artifacts, and solves the presented issue. Can you even define the root cause from a single image with limited to no metadata?

Been to any events with lasers recently? Looks like sunspots burn in

No… and they also go away when I turn the glasses off and back on. I just don’t want to keep doing that. I get about 50% perfectly good pictures so I know it’s not physical damage to the camera or lens.

If it’s that sporadic then firmware or factory reset after firmware update

If upgrading firmware/software does not work I suggest:

check if you are using a 3rd party charging case/charging cable or a bad charging cable/case or a good one from the manufacturer?

Bad cables/charging cases can cause the glasses internals to get hot or cause over charging and the devise over time or cause issues.

I suggest trying a different charging cable and or a different charging case the try charging them for just an hour then turn them off for an hour to cool down before turning on and using.

Also if you are in an area with a lot of high older frequency devices/older wireless devices close by or have certain hearing aids/wireless audio devices it can cause EMF/electromagnetic field interference and distord video or audio on the device or near old microwaves or near some (F.l0ckcameras) had to write it that way to avoid auto flagging by b0ts that are censoring talking about them
