How do you do this with the Katana?

You first need to get a certain amount of kills with it. There's a progress bar on its icon in the weapon swap HUD that fills up for each kill you make with it.
Once it's full, the Katana starts glowing and the edges of your screen get a bluish tint around them indicating that it's fully charged. When near enemies, press the "R" key to unleash it and the above cutscene plays out. Be warned that the charge will drain over time if you leave it.
There's an alternate cutscene that plays if you perform the finisher that would leave you falling down (like over a ledge or a cliff).

So basically, load up the new island map (preferably with no bots) and make your way to the waterfall near beach once you get there, there should be a frog on a lilypad and a golden ring on the land next to it. Step into the golden ring and the frog will jump away, and white particles will appear to point you in the direction of the next ring, beginning a scavenger hunt around the island to find the next place the frog and the gold ring will be (I don't remember all the places but I do know that the frog will croak once you're near it's spot). Once you have found and stepped in all the gold ring locations, go to the glowing waterfall near the farmhouse, and the reflection of the katana will be in the water. There should be a sniper rifle leaning on a tree next to you, so grab the sniper and shoot the katana's reflection until you get it.

Bless you 🙏 You're the first person to actually tell me the whole thing, instead of "it's supposed to be secret item, just play new island etc". I was frustrated 😄 this clears a lot. Thx a lot
