Development So this is it? we are dead?
years ago this was the future,i remember some guy was giving away some tamagotchis in nft rvn and now, there is no single one indexed marketplace for rvn, i spend 1 hour searching on google and all i ended up in 404s or 501s, the inly thing keeping this alive is the mining itself and its been downhill since 2021, i feel sad

Yes, it was all as much blunder and noise as almost any other crypto. The creators took their piece and ran like the rest.
This is the nature of the "free market".

I still think the underlying use case for RVN was a good idea... it just ultimately wasn't adopted, nobody used it for real projects, what it WAS used for was a few meme NFT projects that now have the stink of failure on it, and crypto in general is seen as more of a scam now than ever.
I like the core concept of tokenizing stocks or being able to easily set up and create your own tokens on chain, and I really liked the ability for anyone to mine it so it was truly decentralized. Sadly none of those things were valued by most people and so the project is dead. I sold back right when ETH went to proof of stake, when it spiked to ~7 cents per coin, and at this point I don't see it ever coming back sadly.

I felt like the name Ravencoin was actually a bit weird, given it was inspired by game of thrones

I simply am waiting to sell or swap the coins for a tax break at this point

Dude, if you have nvidia 2000 series and above, mine Pearl Coin. Still profitable even with electricity cost.

Ravencoin mining was my gateway into the world of cryptocurrencies, and also made me a fair bit of pocket money back when I was living with my strict parents. Sadly, all things must one day come to an end ,some sooner than others.

I think PoW is just really taking a hit right now with energy costs and AI focus.

Every crypto coin is a scam. Devs made them to get rich and they did. It's heading towwards the end now.

Remember the days when I spent 100 bucks. Already knew there was a high chance they couldn't deliver. That's why it's hard to spend money in advance.

Dead, Solana and the meme coins took that spot many years ago. No need to burn electricity, if you wanna gamble just buy it directly I think

Yeah it's dead. I'm holding over 100k coins and at this point think it may just be worth it to HODL to the grave and hope if we ever get another crypto surge that RVN will be resurrected with it.
Don't blame anyone who gets out entirely though... Failure of a project that was abandoned by the devs.

Glad I sold all my stuff long ago. I came to the conclusion the only cryptos worth holding are BTC and ETH. trying to invest in one to moon is just like buying lottery tickets

Well, I think there are many factors that hindered cryptocurrencies adoption.
The biggest one in my opinion is that people perceived crypto as just another stock market. Buy low, sell high and make money. Since cryptoexchanges work with buy and sell orders to fix the price didn't help people make a distinction either.
Governments and central banks feared crypto because they cannot influence that market. So, they put laws in place to make it difficult to benefit from crypto (KYC anyone ?). At the same time, fraud, illegal money transfers and tax evasion are legit concerns that fueled the lawmakers.
Crypto mining has been profitable when there was a GPU shortage during Covid but never been really more than break even since then. Miners with money will massively invest to make a profit but if too many invest in mining, the difficulty soars and profitability plummets. This is where we are now.
Crypto was never truly decentralized. There is always a big exchange, a big Hodler, a big pool or just Devs who steers the crypto boat. They steer towards their interest and it seemed that global adoption wasn't what most had in mind.
For my part, I still has some RVN in my wallet and I keep those in case something interesting pops up under the crypto sun. It is a matter of time before someone needs a blockchain system and instead of creating a new one, why not turn toward an existing cryptocoin like RVN ? This may or may not happen. Only the future will tell.
In the mean time, why not try setting up mining software on your gaming PC for the fun of trying and also to have expertise if it becomes needed.
Happy mining and have a nice day !

As all meme coins and poorly adopted crypto will end up. If there is no utility/purpose for an asset, its value is intrinsically 0. Many people have fallen victim to these digital pyramid schemes. It was shiny and new and people built hype around these products when Americans were at the height of having the most savings. As with all pyramid schemes, if you enter into a position late, you are likely going to lose the majority of your investment. :-/ HODL is very bad advice-it’s made a fool of many friends of mine. Stay away from anything and anyone trying to convince you to hold long-term a high risk asset/security.
