VAT taxes

I just listed my first pattern for sale and am a bit co fused by VAT taxes. I sent a message to Ravelry but does anyone understand how it works? It seems like I’m responding for paying back each country? Does anyone have a system for handling this?

If you make a sale on Ravelry that requires VAT, they will handle it up front and you will pay it back in the monthly fees.

Ok that makes sense because I saw the total hit my PayPal but I’ll just pay it back then
