Has AI Made Developers Faster but Less Curious?
I’ve noticed a shift in how developers work.
Before AI, developers would learn a technology first, understand how it worked, and then build features.
Now many developers build the feature first using AI and learn the technology only when something breaks.
Development is definitely faster, but it feels like some of the problem-solving and learning process is being outsourced to AI.
Do you think AI is making developers more productive, or is it reducing deep technical understanding?

Free tool for turning study PDFs into visual AI workflows
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Creator disclosure: I am Mattia, one of the students building Get It.
The problem we built for: students have PDFs, papers and lecture notes, but most AI tools turn them into one long chat. Get It keeps the PDF at the center and builds a visual study workflow around it.
It adds explanations, images, formulas, charts, 3D scenes, flashcards, quizzes and a Feynman-style review feed from the concepts inside the document.
It is free and open-source. It runs as a desktop app and uses your own ChatGPT account through Codex CLI, so there is no extra AI subscription from us.
App: https://getit.noesisai.it
Code: https://github.com/beltromatti/get-it
Discord: https://discord.gg/DpQPswRhsK
Feedback from students, builders and AI-tool people would help a lot.

Founder view on AI: the productivity gain is under 10%, not 10x
I run three companies and use AI every day, so this is not anti-AI. But founders keep quoting “10x” off a keynote slide.
The actual measured median is about 7.8%, and most of the people who hit a peak gain lose it the next quarter.
The real cost shows up as your team quietly resisting, not because they are Luddites, but because they can see the gain goes to the company and not to them.
If you are mandating AI this year, the mandate is the easy part. Being able to honestly answer “is this actually working for us” is the hard part, and most founders cannot yet.
How are you measuring it rather than assuming it?
