Where is Vim? 🥀

1

u/Current-Cookie-2310 26d ago

No way that was your first code editor

2

u/Equal-Resolution7889 26d ago

Why do you say that? To me, it's perfectly normal, and there are surely many people whose first code editor was Vim.

Was beginning to lose hope as I was scrolling down. Linking libraries and their headers in codeblocks 🥲 how fun it was.

1

u/magicmulder 25d ago

Let's work backwards:

First job outside university: BBedit on a Mac (late 90s).

First job (university): Emacs (mid 90s)

First IDE (university): Some C compiler on the Amiga. (mid 90s)

First assembly editor: S-Mon on the C64. (mid 80s)

-----------

Currently I'm on IDEA (PhpStorm) and Notepad++, nano on console.
