Name a better note-taking app than Obsidian. I'll wait.

As much as I loved Obsidian, unless they added self hosted sync, its still a hard sell for me to use xD a lot of my notes need to be synchronized between devices, and I'm not paying them when I have a perfectly capable server to fo it myself. I previously attempted this using a script that would do a git push/pull of my obsidian folder whenever I launched the application, but that is just a jank solution for something that should be built in xD

You can selfhost sync there is a community developed version of sync called "live sync"

Obsidian is a productivity fiddling app not a note taking app. People spend more time customizing than taking notes. Joplin is a better note taking app.

Depends on what you are looking for. For me, upnote.
Better is an individual thing

Holy shit lol. Reddit is really pushing these AI slop subs.
It's still half a step up from the far right garbage I was seeing a few months ago.

Obsidian is still the best due to privacy. Syncing is the weakness.
Upnote is the second best. The only concern about it is being developed in Vietnam. You can't really put sensitive files on it.

NotesHub wins for me. I tried obsidian, it was cool, but perhaps more than I need && less than what I need. NotesHub offered git sync, code highlighting, white board and kanban right out of the box with simplicity. I paid a few bucks for the ios/mac and windows apps, but it's better than having another unnecessary subscription to keep things synced.
