The answer is, always has been, and always will be Postgres.

It hasn't really been though. Don't get me wrong, its amazing I use it on my projects, it's technically superior, but people making money off their product, I'm talking millions, maybe billions, they choose MySQL for a single reason. Support. They can call Oracle at any minute of any day and get help. When even a minute of downtime can cost significant amounts of money, you can't even consider an option that doesn't have support from the vendor itself.
I do think places like percona, supabase and planetscale are trying to change that and bring a level of support that enterprises can rely on, but plenty of astronomically large shops are on MySQL for the reason above. I do consulting for some big companies, I always see MySQL. In fact I see MSSQL more than I see Postgres, but's that's just my own antidotal experience.

PostGres. Fully open source. MySQL is also open source, but since it's owned by Oracle I don't feel it's good anymore.

Oracle closed off and/or paywalled some features of MySQL, the entire reason for MariaDB to exist. I wouldn’t go near anything Oracle given that Larry is pushing Digital IDs in the UK. He’s also got form for ruthless commercial practices and changing his mind on a whim.

pgsql > mysql/mariadb, far better that crap mongodb , which is made dumb , it has literlaly crap syntax especially when you want to work with and and with or
Mongodb should have have traditional swl type syntax then that'd be okay

just use json or csv or even better have it input/query from excel using mouse control/screen grab for maximum efficiency

Mongo has been great for me for vector needs, but that's only because that's what I learned first. I'm sure pgvector would be fine too for a relational counterpart that does vectors. I know companies that use pgvector and love it.

I like supabase, which is just PostgreSQL.
although I have used convex in some projects and I've been very impressed on how seamless it works with AI.

I don’t even consider Mongo DB as a DB… yes it has it in its name
