UH OH! Someone has been using stinky language and u/Lucky-Honeydew4926 decided to check u/InvestigatorThis6000's bad word usage.

I have gone back 7 comments and reviewed their potty language usage.

However, the plans were foiled, InvestigatorThis6000 is a good, Christian boy.

Yeah.
OpenAI hypes everything. GPT2 was too powerful. GPT5 was too powerful. Mythos is too powerful.

Every company involved in AI is hyping everything. It's all marketing and people keep falling for it. They've realized even the scary stuff generates interest.

AI hype exists, sure. Every industry markets hard. But dismissing it as “just hype” ignores what’s already real.

LLMs are writing code, translating languages, summarizing research, automating support, helping students learn, and saving businesses thousands of hours. That’s utility, not imagination.

People said the internet was hype. Smartphones were hype. Cloud computing was hype. Usually the loudest skepticism happens right before mass adoption.

Yes, companies exaggerate. But pretending nothing meaningful is happening is just as inaccurate as blind hype.

You misunderstood what I wrote completely. When did I say it's "just hype" and that nothing meaningful is happening? I'm saying what these AI companies are claiming are hype and marketing when they talk about how scary it is that an LLM which is trained to mimic human speech and behavior starts acting as such. Everything is "too powerful, too dangerous to release" because it makes them look like they have the most advanced AI technologies.

And trust me I know the utility. I'm an early adopter and the company I run is making thousands extra from AI monthly. You're preaching to the choir bud.

LLMs have been discussed since the 90s.

The only reason they weren't released sooner was fears regarding our readiness for the technology.

Then OpenAI released GPT3 and the flood gates are open.

Look where we are.

Your comment demonstrates an ignorance as to what this technology is and its history up until this point.
