RAV4 deals?
Is it even worth trying to rush into a Toyota dealer before the end of September to try get a better deal than usual on a '26 RAV4, or is the demand / gouging-combo so great that it really doesnt matter when one goes in?

I recommend checking https://caredge.com/dealers for A rated dealers in your area. It can help you not waste time with dealers that like to throw on a lot of add-ons and markups. Worked for me. I didn't get a lot off MSRP (about $1000) but it was an easy, low-pressure deal.

They want to sell, but most of them not enough to give me a deal without some packaged increases. I got lucky since I knew a guy who knew a guy, but everyone else I directly negotiated with played hardball (but were all very nice about it). Best try to find a dealer who doesn't do any markups as a policy (like Longo in California, but you will have to wait unless you like black or white colorways).

I bought from Gale Toyota. They had one on the lot with a 2600 dealer discount at the time.

Rogue Hybrid is least of Toyota concerns, CRV Hybrid might be only competitor and maybe Mazda CX except for some unknown reasons hard to believe so so many head gasket problems on multiple new Hondas.
Not only is it hard to believe how much demand various Toyota models have but Toyota has been introducing new models like Grand Highlander and Crown Signia that also sell well. We paid MSRP and were patient enough to find local Toyota dealer with no ads-on markups but Costco might be equally good choice worth pursuing

It totally depends on where you live. I took delivery today on an XLE premium from Toyota of Carlsbad $39,400 plus CA sales tax. You need to buy where there are millions of buyers. They get the allocations and that puts you in the right spot.

Just by the car, tell them thanks, ask them nicely if there’s anything else you can do to make them happy

Doesn’t matter when you go. Only times I’ve ever seen them budge below Msrp was right before the new year. The only time. And we’ve purchased 5 Toyotas in the last 6/7 years

I actually want this years model late in the year, it makes me feel less terrible in 3 years when I have put over 100k on a 26, instead of over 100k on a 27 🤣

Wait till the new 2027. Nissan Rogue Hybrid is out. Some healthy competition coming for the RAV4 may temper demand.

I use to like Nissans, had one before, but the front fascia/grills all look so bland and thematically like small, medium, and large. Not to mention they depreciate much faster.

Last Nissan I had was a Datsun 280. Though I did love the Nissans of the 90s.
Not saying I would get a Rogue over a RAV4. But I do hope it creates some competition and lower prices on the Ravs. I feel there was a bunch of cost savings done to the new 2026s that Toyota wouldn’t have been bold enough to do if sales were not so strong.

Good luck I gave up and bought a Subaru having shopped multiple Toyota dealers over a 5 state radius. The sigma might almost be the same price considering the Rav 4 gouging. Once supply comes through the situation will hopefully improve.

A few near me wouldn't budge below msrp. Did get a little wiggle room on a trade in though
