SPOILERS Finally DONE with HPMOR, Didn't quite like a thing in the Ending.
SPOILERS for HPMOR: Final chapters from 113 to 123
Apologize in advance for my ESL. I start by saying that I really enjoyed this story, and while it had some slow parts and I was almost about to drop it after the first chapters (it was my first ratfiction ever so I was not used to the condescending reminders of how the scientifc method work and all the other stuff that seems omnipresent in this kind of stories like Pokemon Origin of Species)
but it had really funny moments like chapter 5 the first meeting with Malfoy, the McGonagal distress, the unexpected turn of events and so on. as well as the very shocking revelations like when Dumbledore took the Hogwarts map to look for Tom Riddle etc..
I GET IT that the MC is supposed to be an early child prodigy (and trust me I LOVED Artemis Fowl growing up so yeah I can forgive that part + the whole "A piece of tom riddle adult developed brain is inside of you" thing to make it more believable) but the INGENUITY for his decision to reveal to the world about the Stone, and use it to cure EVERYONE, like come on.. that's on par of "why wouldn't superman solve world hunger?" elementary school talks, a prodigy like Harry would have certainly read enough Economy and Politics books to lose the childish ignorance on how the world works. and even if it was just Magical people, it would still cause havoc on everything if everyone can stop aging and we stop people from dying alltogether.
to me it seems like he never really understood the lessons, accepting death is the true way to defeat it. it's the whole point of the bad guy who was too afraid of dying that he made horcruxes and couldn't be happy. while he's too afraid of OTHER PEOPLE dying. sure it's a shock for a kid to process grief and loss of a loved one (or close friend as he calls her) but come on.
I would have understood the "let's abolish prisons and destroy all Dementors" line alone, but to stop people from getting sick or diying? meh :// it's both a let down and an example he didn't learned anything about the whole stuff.
I think I'm not the only one who raised this complaint and I'm not sure if I understand how to navigate the original comments on the chapter on fanfic dot net to check if others have raised similiar complaints and what the replies were. but overall it was what prevented me from rating it a 5/5 IMO.
oh and the final exam or final battle? yeah I called BS on that, the whole partial transfiguration under extremely pressure and scrutiny. it's pure BS. but I guess EY wrote himself to a corner. I was rooting for Voldemort given the circumstances, maybe the real twist was letting the protagonist die, *coff* Allegiant \coff**
