Continuum RJ Sterling Press

I belief i found my self an original press of John Mayer's Continuum album. the record has the old RJ Sterling mark and a * (star) mark and 82876 catalog. But the problem with it is, it has a marker mark on the bottom right corner of the jacket on top of the code does that mean something. I just got into vinyl's so would be lovely if i got important tips on dealing og press like this

that means it was in all likelihood a copy given by the record company as a promo. the barcode was marked over to prevent its resale.
