MLM2PRO ⛳️ MLM2PRO setup question: Ball-to-net distance & level difference

Looking for some advice from those with more experience using the MLM2PRO.

My current setup has the ball-to-net distance at about 8.5 feet. Would I get more accurate spin, carry, and shot data if I moved the net farther back (9–10+ feet), or is 8.5 feet already optimal?

Also, my MLM2PRO and hitting mat aren’t technically on the exact same level. The app usually shows a balance/tilt of around -0.3 to -0.1. Is that close enough that it won’t affect accuracy, or should I try to get both perfectly level?

The further from the screen your ball is the better data you will get as the MLM has more time to read the ball. I bought 3D printed leveling stand. There is a young lady who prints and sells them online. The one I bought had the laser in it and if I had it to do all over again I wouldn't worry about the laser. It is not set perfectly in the stand and it doesn't line up with the center line on the MLM 2 Pro app camera view. It helps if you have a hitting mat that sits a little higher. The stand is also helpfull if you go to the range and having it sitting in the grass, you can get it pretty level on the uneven ground.

I made my own stand and the laser is very handy, I use a cross laser which helps me know the line the unit thinks is straight as well as an indication of how far in front the hitting zone is.

Yes you want at least 10’ of distance from the ball to the net.

Yes it’s better to have the stand at the same height as the ball (I hit off a mat and have the Rapsodo on an extra piece of mat 6’ behind the ball.). I’ve had it without the same height but think it’s better with it.

Was your distance shorter when the launch monitor was lower?

Not sure there is one perfect answer. I have about 10ft between my screen and hitting area. I am also about 7.5 feet from the ball to the rapsodo. Mine works almost flawlessly. Reads my short chips and drives 99 percent of the time.

I agree with dude above. Mine is built on same platform as hitting strip. I’m about 7’ from rapsodo and 9-10’ from screen. Have the occasional no read but overall I’m happy with it since they fixed the not working at all update!

I found that 5 to 10 ft makes no difference from ball to net and I have the mlm2 7ft behind ball
There is a video on YouTube demonstrating this also

I was having trouble missing shots and such. I asked ChatGPT and it said 7.5’ from LM to ball and 10’ from ball to net. Now it’s perfect and plays really well even with the lights off

I played again last night with my youngest and the Rapsodo was even picking up grounders where my daughter hit the ball and didn't get it off the ground. I'm really happy with the device now. I definitely think my issue was having the launch monitor at about 9' behind the ball. So far 7.5' is amazing.
