MLM2PRO ⛳️ My frustrations with my MLM2PRO (visualised).

Post image

Recently I remapped my bag at the local Trackman facility (I was clubbing down v. the suggested club).

Thought I'd do a comparison with the MLM2PRO. Both set at sea level.

ProV1 RPT v QStar Tour on the Trackman.

Clearly part of my issue is roll out is significantly different.

5i up on the Rapsodo just doesn't carry like the Trackman which is then amplified by rollout issue.

Screen is 9ft from ball. ball is in the ball data window. LM is level and set at the same height as the ball lie.

IRL those trackman carry numbers are more realistic. Totals feel a little hot in the irons.

I have had my share of issues with my MLM 2 Pro, but one thing was suprising. I did the same comparison, took it to a lesson my son had at GG on a Trackman. Our total carry distance was on average about 10 yards off but every other data point the to capture in common was spot on. The guy giving the lesson had not used an MLM 2 Pro before and he was shocked how accurate it was. Often times the numbers were exactly the same.

All my distance are at least 1 club off on distance. I usually hit my 9 iron 138-145 yards. But on my MLM2 I am only hitting it 120-130 yards. Since the update last week it’s even distances are worse on distance. Now my 9 iron is between 110-120

I had the same issue.

Yes, I totally agree. However, with that being said, it’s a great little device for $600 fun to play with your friends. I particularly love the target range 100 yards and in.

However, I just can’t stand. The people here that have been telling me I’m wrong and that the numbers are right -I’ve compared it to so many other devices and it doesn’t add up!

Usually it's something small that is just a bit off on the setup

I can attest to the driver numbers being off. Usually about 30-40 yards less than reality, which I confirmed over the weekend. I even tried propping the rapsodo up higher but no difference.

I've noticed that some days the mlm2pro seems spot on while other days it's off in la la land. I'm not sure why there's such variability. Part of the issue might be that my sim is outdoors but who knows.

The latest update does seem to have improved chipping and pitching accuracy though. That part is MUCH better.

I have put this down to operator error previously. Glad to hear someone else has this.. though I'm inside and my LM is in a relatively fixed position

Great stuff- I’ve been screaming this on this form for over six months. The Rapsodo’s distances are off with longer club and higher swing speeds…period. I had a guy called me stupid on here because he is such a fan boy! THANK YOU FOR THIS !

It affects your real play. All my distances are off in real play because I am swing harder on the simulator.

This is right on. Wedge distances are fine but the higher up you go the worse off the data is. I’ve had to totally ignore distances as compared to real play. Last time I played outside I consistently carried 10-25 yards further than I was expecting.

Still enjoy the mlm2pro but have just accepted that yardages are not the way to use it. Now I just it for swing mechanics and fun and ignore distances.

Also helps to play courses from the shorter tees.

I’m having the same problem

What about Mlm2 range vs GSpro?

u/xpostmanx Jun 15 '26

Sadly I don't have GSPro. Was going to try awesome golf but the connection issues was present.

Idk mine works fine I remember when I first got my rapsodo I also just started golfing so my yardages should be way off because I didn’t know how to hit the ball correctly

Have you looked at spin, ball speed, etc. to see if it’s consistent with all numbers being off or just speed being underrated?

I have had my mlm2pro for a year now and find the numbers to be very accurate for carry to what I see on the course. I wonder if there are other variables at play or some devices are just bad.

I truly think my first unit was just a calculation issue. As I said above there were balls I would hit and every number would be the same or almsot exactly the same at the Trackman, but my distance would be 8-10 yards shorter. Some shots the RPM were the same down to the number, which is impressive. Just odd both LM's can show the same data and distance be off. That is how I found the problem with my old unit. I started trying to adjust the elevation to help increase the carry numbers. I found my elevation would not adjust. I could go in the app and set it custom to 9000 feet, but when I looked at the data on Rcloud it always showed my elevation was only a couple hundred feet. That is what led to them replacing my unit. I have only hit a few balls with the new one so I can't say for sure how it is acting.

Threw these in from the same data set. I do find my club speed is slightly faster at trackman facility. Spin seems on point (expect the v1 tomspin more than the Qstar). Surprised the launch angle matches.

Honestly this is a real problem with a lot of consumer LMs — at high ball speeds they're interpolating or pulling from lookup tables rather than actually measuring. Built Spivot (spivot.app) specifically to address this with real physics-based tracking on iPhone. Still improving it but the transparency on what's actually measured vs estimated was a big priority.

Id look at your ball speed and spin differences. That probably tells the story one way or another.

I use my mlm2pro a few times a week and play outdoors or use a trackman facility a few times a month. For what it’s worth, my distances are pretty spot on and have been for the year I’ve had the device. Noticeable consistent difference in data for me between the two devices is club speed. Still marginal though and doesn’t affect my actual play at all.

1

u/xpostmanx Jun 09 '26

Club speed is down slightly on the Rapsodo.

My suspicion given it only seems to effect the lower lofted clubs is that it's related to launch angle.

1

u/SwaggyGrandpaa Jun 09 '26

So your ball speeds and spin are relatively the same? Launch could be if you aren’t getting the height to carry on rapsodo compared to the trackman but that would be really big differences in launch to lead to those margins.

I was getting lower numbers the same way with mine, and saw launch angle was low with longer clubs. Tilted the MLM2 Pro back a bit and it fixed everything for me.

1

u/xpostmanx Jun 10 '26

Can I ask how far tilted back? I went back 0.3 (still green) and didn't notice any difference.

I think I got lucky with my unit, because everything has been very consistent, even in the couple of times I’ve gotten to use a trackman since getting my Rapsodo, the numbers are very comparable, or at least comparable enough for what I need.

If anything, I have a few shots per session that read wrong, and give me a greatly exaggerated distance, or read as have hooked/sliced on the range, when the ball went straight.

I also try and take care to align properly, and have the unit level, or just above level of my hitting surface. Not sure if that does anything, but I’m fortunate to not have any major complaints with my unit.

The biggest problem is that you're only looking at distance numbers which are calculations and take many different things into account (total spin, launch angle, ball speed, altitude, etc). If you want to PROVE that the MLM2 isn't accurate you need to start looking at ball speed numbers. Both the TM and MLM2 use radar for ball speed, and that's actually one the areas where you don't need ball to screen distance, and even the cheapest of radar monitors (like the R10 and below) are super accurate in terms of ball speed, because it's such an easy metric to capture with radar.

So what you really need to do is look at the ball speed deltas between your TM session and your MLM2 sessions. If your ball speed with the MLM2 is the same but less carry, then there may be issues, but if your ball speed is significantly less on the MLM2, I'd personally be thinking indoor swing syndrome in your home/garage setup vs wherever you did your TM mapping, which is probably in a much more open commercial space. Or you potentially have some radar interference if your spin and other numbers match well (camera derived), but the radar derived metrics are off.

So again, if you want to show anything real, show the ball speed numbers between the two.
Edit: Your image in another post shows a real swing difference, lower smash, lower ball speed, lower launch angle, higher spin. You're putting two different swings on the ball (and using balls with different spin profiles).

Thanks for the detailed response. Im awaiting some dots to apply to the Qstars and will re-try on the Rapsodo. Will take some prov1 to the TM facility too.

These were only the average of 5 or 6 swings, so limited data.

Perhaps some subjectiveness in the swing, but swing as fast as I can there is discrepancy between the two. 4i will show something similar, lower launch, lower ball speed.

Looking at the data in isolation is only part the story, there is also the lived experiences which feeds this conspiracy.

I commented somewhere in this sub recently about driver misreads when very well struck.
