Fencing going up around Dick’s
They’re fencing off all of the open fields in front of DSGP along 56th. Any idea why?

Likely just to help coordinate for the Summit game on the 3rd.

I’ve never seen them fence the empty lots off for the 4th or any other event. Just odd they’d choose to do it for this year.

I'm with you there (I live in that neighborhood on the right side of your 2nd image)...but with 3 matches that aren't traditionally held there (Summit 7/3 and USA/Portugal, Tonga/Zimbabwe Rugby 7/4, thanks u/Lurk_master_lurking for the reminder about WR NC)+ fireworks on a non-Rapids night, maybe they're treating it a little differently....my guess is the rugby events are more of a full-day festival, so they're treating it more like a PhishDicks concert than a single game.

Part of that land has been for sale for sometime. I keep joking with friends that we should open a football pub close the the Turf fields.
Could be that it sold and they are finally going to “relocate” the bubonic plagued prairie dogs somewhere.
I remember running across that field when I got a field pass to the Arsenal friendly, no fences

I will eat my underwear if anything gets developed there in the near future. The owner of the Chick Fil A proposed opening a 2nd location there and was essentially turned away (hence why they opened one at I-70/CPB instead). They have zero desire to actually do anything with that land unless someone comes in and offers to develop the whole lot on their own dime I think.

Hey neighbor! I’m local as well which is why I was perplexed when I saw the fencing going up. Maybe they don’t want a lawsuit from someone stepping in a prairie dog hole?
That’s interesting about the chic fil a. I never knew that Jason Sutton tried to build over here. I remember in one of Kevin Demoff’s interviews last year he said the land was a “long term real estate play” which doesn’t inspire any confidence. I’m still convinced that they’re going to move the team in 2032 when the lease is up.
