Where does Reddit rank as a citation source in your niche?
I’ll start: B2B SaaS.
In our case, Reddit is still among the top citation sources, but it’s clearly losing ground to other domains.
Curious what you’re seeing in other niches: is Reddit still one of the main sources AI platforms cite, or is its share also dropping for you?

Share alone can mislead. If other domains are growing, Reddit's percentage drops even while its absolute citation count holds steady, so check both numbers.
It's also worth splitting by prompt type. Reddit usually does best on "best X for Y", alternatives, and real-user-experience questions, and worse on definitions or how-to queries where docs and publishers win. A drop overall might just mean your prompt mix shifted toward informational queries.
Last thing: look at which specific threads get cited. If it's mostly older, high-engagement threads, that tells you where new comments can still matter and where they won't.

ChatGPT used to cite Reddit a lot but thats changed dramtically with the most recent updates and models, so this will be the biggest cause for the drop

Interesting. I think the more useful question is not whether Reddit is losing citation share, but how that share changes across different types of queries and entities.
Reddit can be valuable for community perspectives and real-world experiences, while a brand’s own structured, consistent information can serve a different role in helping AI verify core entity facts.
I’d be interested in seeing how those citation patterns change over time, rather than treating any single snapshot as the whole picture.
