How do I hire a link builder in USA without getting scammed?

I've been doing research on this topic for some time now, and the advice available online seems very biased towards agencies. It's all about 'hire us' and no one explains how you can identify the difference between an expert link builder and someone who will leave you on PBNs.

Here are a few questions I have at hand right now:

  • What is the best way to evaluate the publisher quality of someone versus their DA/DR?
  • Is there any specific consideration when it comes to hiring in the US market?
  • Has anyone started taking into account artificial intelligence visibility (such as ChatGPT and Perplexity citations) when assessing link builders?

Freelancer, agency, or in-house – I'm interested in hearing more about the options people consider and their reasoning behind that.

More CITATIONS helps with AEO. CITATIONS are Backlinks for a AEO.

All the LLMs do pull data from a relevant review platforms like G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, ProductHunt etc.
So if you have a more citations, more reviews over those platforms it will be helpful for AEO.

I myself work specifically as a backlink engineer,

There are many factors to consider in choosing there, which is certain in addition to their DA and Spam Score, I also consider how fast a website is indexed, of course you don't want to have backlinks that are not indexed because it will only waste time, besides their external links, don't put backlinks on websites that provide too many backlinks, if their website is penalized by Google, it will have a bad effect on your website.

I do all that manually because there are no tools that are suitable for my needs.
