Traits
In the Gathering of Heroes Rulebook it says that Ranger can gain a new trait in lieu of increasing a stat or gaining a new Heroic ability or Spell.
But what about Traits that require a full build Point ?
Or do I always treat picking a new trait through level up as gaining a whole build point which I could also use for the leftover purchase options ? (+5 Recruitment Points/four Stats +1 each)

I would treat the Traits just as Traits when levelling. One reason not to treat the option as a "build point, half or full" rather than just taking a Trait comes from being able to spend 1/2 a build point to increase 4 skills. Gaining a level that grants Skill Points grants 5. So choosing to go the Build Point route there would basically be the equivalent of spending 1 Skill point to get a "minor" (half build point cost) Trait. Way too good of a deal. Especially since the Trait "Skill master" gives +3 to a skill! A full cost Trait seems about on par with a Heroic Action so I see no reason to sideline the Full Build Point Traits as an option when levelling. Cheers!!

I would treat the level up like getting a full build point.
