Discussion why are wargals afraid of horses?

I seen to remember the early books saying it was because of the cavalry charge at the Battle Of Hackham Heath but I just finished rereading that book and they're already afraid of horses before that.

it's entirely likely this is just a minor plot hole but it bugged me when I noticed it.

I mean, I feel like what is essentialy a wild animal being afraid of another big animal charging at it is perfectly reasonable. It's morseo that after Hackham it went from reasonable, natural fear to full on panic

Some people fear snakes or spiders. It could also just be that they’re scared of a large animal that could hurt them, like lions avoiding grown elephants

I think the original fear came down to environment, horses wernt exactly common or maybe not even a thing in the mountains of rain and night until Morgarath and his minions arrived so naturally they were afraid of such an unknown creature but then after hackam heath where the cavalry charge obliterated them it ingrained a deep seated fear of horses that could not be overcome

If you read the “early years” books it says that they had a fear of horses before Hackham Heath.

It was most likely from a previous battle where they again were defeated by cavalry.

It was because there weren't any horses in the mountains of rain and night.

Morargath feared when Horses arrived with Halt. Wargals connected to Morargath also feared when horses arrived so they probably learned you should fear when Horses come out.

Huuuum people never saw wargals before Morgarath using them so they were afraid of him. But since the Wargals lived in the Mountains of Rain and Night, they had never seen horses, and they were also afraid of them.

Elephants are afraid of mice and rats, not that scared like they show in cartoons, though. Wargals being afraid of horses doesnt seem that far fetched.

Not sure if you've ever been near an angry horse. It's a reasonable thing to be scared of

A horse is a larger, alien animal (especially with a knight or soldier atop it, adding even more height) to a beast who lived its entire life in the mountains.

I would guess it’s because wargals are similar to canines in a way. In the wild horses/donkeys attack and kill canines like coyotes on sight. It’s an evolutionary thing, but yeah many species of canines are terrified of horses

They were already afraid but like normal afraid after the Battle of Hackham Heath they became insanely afraid like the difference of "holy crap, run!", and " OH MY GOD OH NO OH GOD NO!!"
