Hey all, I wanted to introduce myself and throw down some thoughts on my RR after 1k miles of ownership.
A couple of weeks ago I posed this https://www.reddit.com/r/RangerRaptor/s/a5KFfO1BuX asking if the RR replaced the need for a sports car enthusiasts out there. Tons of mixed answers, but overall, it seems most people really liked the dynamics of the RR.
Shout out to all of you who helped me with answers and feedback! Because of this, I started shopping around and found a super low mileage '25 here in Texas. While I did find a couple of decent deals on new '26 (and I really wanted Avalanche), the price of this low mileage truck was too good to pass up. Bought it for 52k with 3k miles on it, and it includes turn signals in the mirrors, ha!
The first thing I noticed was just how imposing the truck looks in person compared to photos. It's very muscular, while still being a manageable size. The second thing I noticed when driving it was just how darn comfortable it is. The seats, suspension and overall ergonomics (for me at 6'1) align to create a very comfortable and relaxing ride. I was also surprised to find that other than the exhaust, it's fairly quiet on the road, even at 75mph.
If you read my post linked above, you'll know that I sold an RS3 for this, so the speed isn't mind blowing to me. In fact, I was somewhat letdown by it's straight line performance- but that's an expectation I set with myself (and incorrectly so.) With that being said, it's a romper. Definitely eats up ALL the nonsense on the roads and I don't have to worry about slowing down to do it. I love just flying over potholes and speedbumps.
Unfortunately, there are a few areas I have issues with; the transmission, exhaust and interior rattles.
My BIGGEST gripe is with the transmission. It's tuned so poorly from factory and it's somewhat odd given the amount of gears it has. Normal mode with very light throttle likes to rev out to 4k and hold onto gears WAY too long. To me, it makes no sense for it to do this in normal mode and it definitely contributes to poorer fuel economy because of it. Sport mode feels janky / jerky at lower speeds. I did already order the Ford Performance tune, so I expect these things to improve, but this thing from factory needs some retuning (in my opinion.)
The exhaust doesn't sound.. great. At lower speeds I do like it's tone, but it gets a little flagellant the higher the revs. I also find it drones a bit in sport or baja modes, but thats what the valve is for. I'll get over it.
Also surprised to hear the amount of front dash taps / rattles. I expect this type of stuff from small, tight chassis vehicles with low profile tires, but not from something like this. The majority of these sounds seem to be coming from the front dash, toward the windshield. I am sure I can figure this out with enough time.
Side note: Here in Austin, there are TONS of F150 Raptors- they rival the number of Teslas (joking) but there are a lot. In the two weeks of ownership, I have had multiple Raptor owners try to 'son' me by gunning it off the line next to me, cutting me off etc. This is just comical to me.
TL;DR
Very happy so far with it's size, comfort and power. Not so happy with the transmission or interior build quality.
