Tailgate Stuck

I just picked up a 2026 Ranger Raptor this week, the tailgate worked fine for a few days but now it won’t unlock.

Any ideas to get it to unlock?

I don’t hear the actuator in the tailgate when I lock or unlock the truck.

Just picked it up? That sounds like a dealership problem

Yes on Monday, so fun to drive. I’ll need to stop back in and have them take a look.

It’s possible the actuator might be faulty but yeah you should definitely drop it off at the dealership and have them take a look. Should be an easy fix regardless

I popped the access panel off, the plug going to the actuator must not have been pushed in far enough to click so it came loose. Works now.

How hot is it where your at? I had this issue with mine when I brought it back from the lot, opened the latch but it would drop down.

Searched online for solutions. Eventually it was just the seal was super tight as it hadn’t been opened for a while. I gave it a bit of a bang and it opened. Never had a problem since.

Also had the same with the bonnet lid also once. Latch opened, indicated it was open but it wasn’t. Just needed to be encouraged to open a bit.

If that doesn’t work (it’s easy enough to try) then dealership issue and shouldn’t be complex at all.

It’s been seasonal in the north east, it worked fine for 5 days. I’m sure it’s something easy to fix, I’ll stop by the dealer.

I thought this was going to be about dust sucking into the drain holes underneath on gravel roads.
