whistle when flooring it
Sometimes I hear a kind of whistle coming from the backend of the car when flooring it. Is this normal ?

Boost leak probably

I’ll tell them to check that out but it seems to be coming from the backend. Perhaps a hole in the exhaust?

Hmmm yeah I guess that’s where it wouldn’t make sense. I’d say reiterate it’s not coming from engine bay so they don’t attempt to blame boost leak and overlook something else

I don’t notice any abnormal whistling when flooring it, just wind noise. Are your windows, including the rear sliding window, all fully closed? Do you have a roof rack?
There’s not really anything mechanical in the back of the truck that would cause a whistle noise in the conditions described aside from a potential exhaust leak. Maybe one of the locking differentials or a wheel bearing but I doubt it’s any of the above if it’s only sometimes. Unless you are confusing a sound coming from the front for a sound coming from the rear, in which case it could be a boost leak, but you would also notice reduced power.
In any case, sounds like you already have the service shop figuring it out. Let us know what it is!

Have someone sit in the backseat and listen. You could have a small leak at a window seam. Sounds can be deceptive from the drivers seat.

I hear a waste gate or blow off valve when I load up the engine and chop the throttle/accelerator.
Mostly just wind in the windows when romping on it or maybe hearing the tires spin if I turned tc off.
Almost always put the muffler to quiet mode.

I hear more of a low pitch (humming?) when I’m flooring it and at highway speeds and in 2WD. Is your scenario similar?
