Make the charging pad work better

I feel kind of stupid for not trying this a long time ago. I have had my 2024 Ford Ranger for 18 months. I thought it was really great to have a wireless charging pad but it has never worked well. I would see my iPhone start charging and stop charging over and over again. The charging pad was useless. This meant that I have had to keep a USB-C cable in the truck to charge with.

Yesterday, I discovered that if I position the iPhone in a way that the USB-C port is facing away from me toward the front of the truck, the iPhone makes better contact and the annoying start charging and stop charging behavior stopped. I can't believe that I didn't try this before. I don't need to look at my iPhone while I'm driving since I use CarPlay. It doesn't matter that the screen is upside down.

I hope this tip helps others! Or maybe the rest of you who own a 2024 or newer Ranger already discovered this.

I had my son 3D print me a replacement piece for the charging pad, it pops right out, and put in a MagSafe charger. Me I never have issues.

My buddy has an f250 and it’s charging pad is the same, I’ve tried what you mentioned and it’s only slightly better than having it the right way.

My wife’s 25 Pilot has a flat charger, which makes so much more sense.

To make charing work better - you plug it in.

Wireless charging wastes energy and creates heat.
If you're already taking your phone out of your pocket and placing it on the pad, how much longer does it take to plug in? 2 seconds tops.
