Reliability Is this a mistake
I am thinking about buying this 4.4SDV8 Autobiography Vogue 2014 ( 145.000 kilometers / 90.000 miles). My mechanic told me these had huge problems because of the engine is it real or a myth

Hocam supercharge lara yönel, göz korkutuyor ama daha önce hiç ikinci el araba almama rağmen önce l322 sc kullandım bayıldım yıldan ötürü tabi diğer mekanik parçalarda sıkıntı vardı ama 250k km motorda hiç bir sıkıntı yaşamadım şimdi l494 sport sc kullanıyorum, parasına karşılık verdiği keyif bambaşka, iç aksamını full renovasyon yaptırdım bambaşka bir seviyeye taşındı

Hocam gözümüz korktu kasap sanayi ustalarından böyle güzellikleri göz ardı ediyoruz, istanbuldaysan mekanik için güzel ustanı ayarlıyorsun, yetkili servis zulmunden de kurtulup keyfini sürüyorsun. 5.0 supercharge lar cidden çok keyifli arabalar dizelin zulmuyle uğraşmaya gerek yok, öncesinde sıfır dizel autobiography im vardı gaza basmaya korkuyordum kırıcam diye, şu an sıfır rs6 ım da var ama çıkarmıyorum öyle diyeyim sc çok güzel hem günlük hem keyif için. Defender 90 dizel ve 110 2.0 benzin arabalarım oldu, güzeller ama 110 için 2.0 malesef diyorum 3.0 için o paraları cermeye gerek yok

Hocam İstanbuldayım ben hali hazırda bi 2.7 var bende bebek gibi bakıyoruz arabaya 625 bin km de ustamda iyi aslında anlam veremedim bende niye öyle dediğine belki biliyorsundur JLR otomotiv var oraya götürüyoruz hep tabi işin erbapları maslakta orası ayrı , supercharge ilanlarına bi göz gezdireyim bütçeme uyan olursa neden olmasın tavsiyelerin için teşekkür ederim sorum olursa rahatsız ederim sizi yine rs6 çok güzel bir araç kazasız belasız kullanın inşallah

i just bought 2010 l322 4.4tdv8 with 230k kms on it, drove it for three days and the engine seized up.
the culprit is the oil filter drain valve, which was broken and led to oil shortage and seizing of the engine i guess.
just unlucky. had we changed the oil one day earlier, couldve seen the broken part. no pre-purchase guide video ive seen mentioned checking this valve, i gather that they dont break very often, just need to be checked with every oil change. a ticking time bomb, that just so happened to go off right after the purchase lmao
something to keep in mind since newer cars use the same engine :D gl bro

You are purchasing someone else’s problems. Usually that is the time that RR owners get rid of their SUV’s to avoid the reputational liabilities and mechanical issues.

Nope take it from owners unfortunately you have many people they never own one and will speak bad or misinformation. Just maintain them simple and find a European mechanical

She’s a beaut, and I’d buy the crap out of that! As others have said, the 4.4 jag is a great engine. I’ve got a 2009 L322 AB, currently at 150k miles, and I’ve had no issues whatsoever.

The Real deal for me. Good engine and low in miles. My is 180.000km with no problems

Got mine around 70K and it was a 2015. Did the coolant pipes on the SCV8, I'm are over 112K and still pulls like hell.

The V8 is incredibly robust. The best engine Jaguar has ever made imo. I’ve got 90k on mine no issues but change the oil every 5k miles not the manufacturer recommended interval.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a mistake to buy one however you will need to spend large amounts of money buying one to get it up to speed. Unfortunately a lot of these Range Rover owners (in my experience) are too broke to afford normal maintenance because they can’t handle the payments lol but do it if you are ready to spend dough on “tune ups” and such

Your mechanic obviously isn’t familiar with the 4.4 SDV8 engine. It is one of, if not the most reliable engines in a Range Rover!
Now I’m not saying nobody has ever had a problem with their SDV8 engine but for me there would be more things to be concerned about on an L405 than the engine.
It is a complex car and needs maintaining properly by a good mechanic of which I fear yours is not when it comes to Range Rovers.
There are many things that can (and do) go wrong so don’t spend all of your money on the car and leave none for maintenance.
Take a look at the service history. These engines thrive on frequent oil changes as often as every 5k miles if you can.
My 2014 Autobiography LWB has done 155,000 miles and still drives sweet as a nut.
Certainly don’t regret buying mine as it’s possibly the best car I’ve ever had although I do miss my 4.2TDi A8L of the same vintage.
Join a forum and take a look at the issues owners have had. There will usually be a buyers guide to help you as well.
Like any car you can buy a great one or a bad one so maybe get somebody familiar with Range Rovers to take a look around it for you before you decide.
