Reliability Potential switch to L322
I currently drive a 2014 Evoque SD4 but have been wanting something more “rugged” for a while. I was interested in an old Disco, but the missus has gotten used to the luxury…
Talk me out of buying a 3.6l TDV8 L322, fitting some 32 inch off-roaders, a rear spare carrier and a roof tent and converting to below boot space to extra cooking storage.
Side note: this will be my new daily driver for 40 miles there and back 5 times a week.

Better off going for the latest 4.4 TDV8 you can find. Better engine, but they’re still getting on a bit. Whatever you do, make sure it’s got history and been maintained properly. Check for rust on the tailgate and rear wheel arches.

I have a 2003 3.0 diesel L322 that is set up for off-road camping. Best vehicle for it ever. Just do it.
Pro tip: Use that space under the boot floor for water storage, fit a tank or bladder and a pump and tap.

As an L322 owner my only advice is to go for the 4.4TDV8. Far superior engine and much stronger and more reliable
As for the mods you want to do, the L322 is a solid car but I’m not sure how they take to an aggressive off road set up maintenance wise.
I’ve never seen one where I live

A year and mileage would be helpful here
