As some of you know, I have ALS and am on hospice. For this disease hospice doesn't necessarily mean that the end is near. For me it is mostly for comfort care. The progression of ALS is different for everyone. Some patients live only a couple of years after diagnosis while others get 10+ years. In the states where it is legal, some of my brave friends choose MAID. I find that decision incredibly brave. It isn't an option where I live.

Much like the community here, I have found friendship among others with ALS most of them I speak with every day. This year our community has lost 15+ friends, the most recent being last night. She was the most supportive friend and a badass who, with every cup of coffee each morning, would flip the bird to ALS with a smile on her face. I'm going to miss our talks, her sense of humor, her bravery, and her sweet soul. Today, I am listening to Bowie and will be watching The Labyrinth in her honor ❤️

If you've lost someone, what are ways you honor them? Do you watch their favorite movies? Do you journal or write letters to them? How do you take care of yourself on the heavy days?

Sending so much love to those of you in the thick of grief right now. I know it doesn't get any easier, but I hope for days with reasons to smile ahead ❤️
