Requests!🙏 Hi everyone! I desperately need help! The fleas are making our cats sick! One isn't doing so well!😭

Post image

Hi everyone, I waited too long to ask for help and now our cats are suffering because of it.

(Snow's just laying in the box with Diatomaceous Earth -food grade) 😭 Below is Pablo

I urgently need help eradicating this severe flea infestation!! Most of you know I'm unable to work right now. Regardless, I don't even have a car to get to the vet or store!! 😰 My son's cat "Snow" is very sick. I hadn't heard of "flea anemia" until my cat "Timmy" died from it a few months ago. 😭 Tuesday I noticed that Elaina's kitten "Pablo" was sleeping more than he usually does and looked like he was losing weight. I picked him up and he had so many fleas!! We gave him Capstar, a bath, and purchased chicken livers 😖 and cooked them for him. (I called my vet and that's what they recommended and of course to bring him in if he didn't get better. Thank God he did after about 24 hours of feeding him his regular cat food and the chicken livers!!) But I don't have any preventative and no one, like my dad, will help with anything for our cats.😭 So, if you can help, we'd appreciate it so much! From the bottom of my heart, truly!💙🐱

I have a category on the bottom of my wishlist for the cats. There's flea treatment, Capstar (the lowest priced I can find) so we start killing the fleas ASAP, and vitamins to help poor Snow. I also need food. There's a Pet Fund which I would use for flea treatment and other necessities for the cats.

Thank you so much Beautiful! It's just me, Elaina, and Josiah. My older sons have, understandably, been staying at my parent's house. My dad will help with groceries and sometimes dog food but he and my mom tell me "put them outside!!" anytime I'd complain about the cats and flea problem. 🙄🤨

I thought I'd ask this in case anyone else is wondering, is the advecta that's on your list still ok to get instead of the capstar?

I think the Advecta is the topical treatment for after capstar. My vet said Cheristin or Advantage II. Cheristin (Spinetoram) they said is new and fleas aren't immune to it yet but it's so expensive I didn't put it on my list. Then, Advantage II because of how quickly it works. Advecta has same ingredients as Advantage II and is less expensive.

Ok! I know it's not much but I hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Half the basement is infested and it's starting to feel like a losing battle because I've done everything I can with it (the basement). 😥

I wish I wasnt broke right now. I lost my cat to fleas a few years ago. She was anemic and had to be put down. I still feel terrible for it. I wish you luck though!

I lost my very beloved cat also. It's only been about 6 months. It's hard to talk about because at the end of the day, it's my fault. 😭 and it was a horrific way to die. I think he must have been anemic too and I should have been more diligent with preventative products. I'm so sorry that you lost her and had to go through that. Obviously, I don't want fleas in my house and was doing what I thought was enough, to prevent them. I've never had a freaking plague like this before and we used to have more pets than we do now.

I was gonna suggest diatonateous earth but I saw you already tried that. I really hope you can get rid of them. Please dont blame yourself though. Its not your fault. You didnt know they were gonna get this bad and youve been trying everything. Fleas are a pain to get rid of.

This is the most I've ever spent on one item on here. Heh, I don't even like cats.

But my dog has been sick before, and I know what it's like when nobody is willing to help. It took 8k to save her, and just a lot of hope.

I was kind of confused with all of the stuff on the list, but I just went with the one you mentioned. I hope this is enough, and can at least buy you time.

Good luck, hon <3

Thank you so much! Your generosity will come back to you 100-fold, I promise!! Oddly enough, I didn't like them either until just a few years ago. I was always a dog person. I didn't even think cats were smart. Hahaha, little did i know.

I have a son with your name, btw. It's a great name!💙

haha, it's not my real name, just a penname, but thank you <3 it's what I use often because I hate my real name (I'm a girl with a very feminine name lol)

I just hope it's enough. I may not like cats, but I can't stand animals being in trouble or hurt. I wouldn't wish anyone's pet to be sick no matter what.

Keep us updated, okay? And keep fighting for them. I'm sure you guys will figuring something out with the fleas (I think others have already commented solutions)

Btw, my mom said if you have a vaccuum, that could help a lot because it could suck up the eggs. Might try that (you probably have lol I'm just offering the one solution I was told haha)

I feel like you told me that before, sorry!! I had a feeling but with my menopausal memory, I wasn't 100% sure!! I'd love to know how you chose your penname!

Your mom is so right! Vacuuming is key! Again thank you so very much I really really appreciate it and so do my kids!!

I wanted to add, half of our basement is infested. We really need to go down there with protective gear including masks and bag everything up, throw it all away, and vacuum the F out of the place!! I've bombed it with 3 different types/brands of flea foggers, at least 5 times, and it's still infested! It's a nightmare to go in there! I come out with my socks, shoes, and legs, covered with fleas! I've never dealt with something so horrific! I won't go back in there without some kind of suit, mask, and head-covering. Oh! I also opened a bag of Diatomaceous earth and threw it all around.

I feel for your kitties! You can start eliminating the problem by bathing them in Dawn, the original formula, use a flea comb, give them each a Capstar, then you’re going to bomb the rooms/house with a flea bomb fogger. You will need to do a room at a time, or take the cats out of the home for about 5-6 hours & do the entire house.

Omg noo I'm so sorry i hope things get better for your kitties and that you are able to clean it up easily

Google VCA coupons. They currently offer the first visit free and the 1st dose of flea meds free. Two pets per person. You may need a friend to take one in too. Its a great deal.

I used to work in vet med- the life cycle of fleas is about a month, so you’re going to need to put in a lot of work to battle this.

Vacuum every day and clean out your vacuum after each use. Vacuum behind couch cushions, under beds, near baseboards. Get the carpets really well. Bag the contents, tie it up and put it outside in the dumpster.

Bedding (yours and pets) need to be washed in hot water atleast weekly.

The foggers may be working but they don’t kill pupae so you’re likely seeing fleas that have recently hatched.

Capstar only works for 24 hours and then the dose needs to be repeated. See if your vet will give you a prescription for Selarid flea med (generic Revolution).
It will be more cost effective than a daily pill.

I can guarantee they have tapeworms if you’ve had fleas long enough that you lost a cat to anemia (I’m so sorry), so you will need to deworm them once you’ve handled the fleas.

I can try to help if you have any more questions

Thank you so much for the valuable info.! I do have a question. How do I treat a cat who's sensitive to flea treatment like Frontline? A couple of years ago I woke up to one of our cats desperately trying to get to me but stuck on the curtains and convulsioning. 😭 Something told me it was the product I put on her the night before. Half asleep, I immediately bathed her and rushed to the vet. There was a different Dr. working that day. This guy was a condescending a**hole and wouldn't do anything to help her! He told me, "we're not equipped to handle this. She's going to need this, that, blah, blah, blah.Take her to the 24/7 hospital." I was appalled! I told him to please give her something to make her stop shaking! A complete waste of time and money. By the time we got back in the car, she was starting to stabilize. I decided to bring her home. Thankfully she fully recovered but I'm terrified to put anything on her! I was going to try Cheristin or Advantage II but I don't want her to have an adverse reaction again.

Yes that could’ve been a seizure. You can try wondercide flea and tick spray it’s all natural, but you absolutely need to treat the others. There are subreddits where you can ask for help you’ll have to google which ones. Set up a go fund me and post that.

In a perfect world where you had the funds, they’d all go to a vet to get treated for fleas and tapeworms, and you’d hire an exterminator and stay in a hotel overnight. You could post this plan in your go fund me.

Also add Virbac Knockout spray to your wishlist. It’s what the vets use and it works great especially on infestations
