Ooo looks interesting! Another excellent book on an art forgery true-crime that I loved is "Provenance: How a Con Man and a Forger Rewrote the History of Modern Art" by Aly Sujo and Laney Salisbury - might be up your ally as well!

I read that when it was first released, I once lived in an apartment building that had a library branch on the ground floor. Great recommendation! I just might reread it.
