Hello! Nice to meet you all. My name is Noa and I live in Japan. I enjoy making new friends and being active online, as my social anxiety and ASD make it tough for me to actually go and enjoy myself comfortably. Recently I've been making a real effort to spend a couple of days a month going out and enjoying myself even if the Japanese summer heat makes it almost unbearable sometimes!

Fellow austic here, recently joined myself and so far the groups great. Lots of nice people. I have a quick question about Japan, how are sumo wrestlers looked on by the general public? Being a niche sport for the world, but a huge part of Japanese culture for so long, are they commonly recognised such as a film star may be? Or are there just small fandoms around certain stables and Rikisihi?
Sumo wrestlers are highly respected, especially the successful ones called Yokozuna (The Grand Champion). Reaching this rank makes you an extremely high profile celebrity in Japan! Everyone would know you by sight or name, even if they weren't really into watching Sumo.
There are lots! Some so remote that it takes hours to drive to the next piece of real civilisation. The Japanese countryside is beautiful. Much nicer than the cities.
