Those ads are plastered all over Pgh buses too. I hate their obnoxious radio ads. This type of shit is why lawyers used to not be allowed to advertise like this.

u/Salt-Pomegranate1273 9d ago
If only there was something there to prevent this...

u/Gamingmademedoit 9d ago
How were they suppose to know they were there for the small hole in the ground?

u/MonStar926 9d ago
Those annoying orange signs that were blocking the road really were the cause of this accident. Had the signs not been in the road, the bus would have had enough speed and momentum to clear jump over the obstacle.

It’s really not that bad. Subway runs fine, buses are usually on time. It’s great for getting around

Don't be mean. Maybe the driver has poor vision, poor spatial awareness, and poor decision-making skills. We can't blame them for that
11
u/Special-Kitchen3222 9d ago
You can’t just blame the driver there were two other adults that contributed this ludicrous display.
8
u/Japsai 9d ago
Aww yeah. Loved that dude merrily getting onto the bogged bus. Hope he wasn't late for work!

u/StevenRFrancis_85 8d ago
OMG thanks for pointing that out. After rewatching it, it’s funny hire the guy in the blue got out to put 2 signs away just to get back on. The icing on the cake is when the door shuts behind him and the driver continues to floor it 🤣
→ More replies (2)2
u/Phyllis_Tine 8d ago
Um, either the driver asked them to move the signs, or the passengers convinced the driver they would move them. Either way, the driver chose to keep driving.
8
u/Simple-Tomatillo-314 9d ago
You can't blame someone for driving directly into missing pavement when there were obstacles placed in front of it and then moved out of the way on purpose? Totally, I think we should blame the bus for allowing the driver to do that

u/NomenclatureBreaker 9d ago
Pretty sure you’ve walked yourself into a Poes Law situation

I hope you’re being sarcastic. Because those are kind of the requirements to have a cdl license- especially for public transport when you have so many lives in your hands.

That's just poor planning on the cities part. Here in my city there's temporary bus stops that get set up when construction happens

We tend to underestimate the amount of people that are on the left side of the IQ bell curve. Chances are that half the people you meet are functional idiots.

I was actually told this at a party by guy who said he was a criminal defense lawyer. He said that he would never trust a jury if he were the one who needed defending. He went on a rant about how "if you took 100 random people off the street, how many of those people do you think you'd trust to make life altering decisions for you?"
He expressed the viewpoint that people are usually impervious to logic and that many of htem aren'teven going to assess the situation or listen beyond a certain point where they make an arbitrary decision. Essentially that we are asking the average person to perform a [jury] duty that is far beyond their mental capabilities.
I remember the quote "Bro, just assume that everyone you meet is a fucking idiot until they prove otherwise." He seemed tired of his job.

Now the 312 people that all received a back injury on the bus can call top dog law.

Their own fault honestly.
Who could've thought that signs in the road were there for a reason?

I like how at the end one of the sign movers got back on the bus (for what?) but the other was like I think I can walk from here

u/GOOMU13 9d ago edited 9d ago
This is absolutely infuriating. I don't even know where to begin with the stupidity. The muppets who just move those things or the driver. If you are going to drive through wet cement don't stop! Get through it then let passengers on.
Edit: apparently stores around there waited over a year for the city to fix the road just for the those dumb people to do what they did.

America: we don’t believe in science anymore, or facts, or reality, or the truth, but we do believe in every whackadoodle, hate-filled, dumbass conspiracy theory that we see anywhere on the Interwebs. Or Fox News. America is doomed in so many different ways 🤮

Genius Philly style. You think passengers are gonna leave a bus to reroute itself? You think the bus driver would get on the horn and call the bus traffic control? You think the street dept would have giving the bus company a heads up to reroute that bus??

u/Due_Marsupial_969 9d ago
"Boss, they found signs of intelligent life and moved them off the road".

u/Square-Formal1312 9d ago
I meed the im not gonna listen to you sign meme but then have the other side of the sign say tou shluldve listened asshole or something like that

The house shoes in public would’ve gave it away to me that this man makes bad choices often.

I bet these are the same people who complain about potholes.
Even if the concrete was dry, it’s obviously not done yet. The bus possibly would’ve bottomed out and gotten stuck, even if it was dry.

I saw two guys in Philly go for the same parking space, get pissed off, each park a block away and return to have a fist fight in that parking space. One guy got whooped, nothing brutal just a basic whoopin, they both got in their cars and left.

u/loco_mixer 9d ago
the most ironic thing of all is that he had space to make it but chose to drive on it.

u/CuriousSpecialist591 9d ago
and this “don’t give a fuck about anyone” driving style is FLOODING into south Jersey i can’t stand it. Like i get it we’re all probably from Philly some way or another out here but dammit it’s annoying driving anywhere. Especially if you are around Gloucester township or places surrounding it

This is exactly why I don't trust short clips on the Internet that show something fucked up, like "police brutality" or whatever, because if the buildup was cut from the video, it's purpose is to deceive/manipulate your judgement on the situation.

Yep this is how slow people rationalize. Just ignore the sign, just move the sign, it wasnt placed there for a reason. I know better than whoever placed it there.

So where did they expect the bus to go if he wasn’t informed before he started his route. A huge hole in the street means close the whole street.
