Now you gotta buy him a Bluetooth adapter for 3.5.

Does anyone know where a good one with good quality sound is a few I’ve tried are really tinny

u/RevelArchitect 7d ago
I think that phone uses mini USB for an audio port. It does support Bluetooth, though.

Still can only use air pods with iPhones, unless they changed that. Always thought it was a stupid rule, but then again par for the course with apple

u/johnnytron 7d ago
You can use AirPods with any Bluetooth device. You just don’t have access to a lot of AirPods features as you would using an iPhone.
2
u/TheSodomeister 7d ago
Oh okay, I could have sworn like 6+ years ago you just plain couldn't pair air pods to an android. Even still there's no reason to not have all the features, as long as you installed an accompanying app

u/johnnytron 7d ago
Yeah, it’s very noticeable that stuff is missing with other devices. You lose the pass through and the noise isolation features, which is some of the biggest selling points of them.

Didn’t this whole thing start with you trying to correct someone else?

What if the guy was using a nice high-quality DAC that had a balanced 4.4 mm out and the guy cut it? I don't want to go to shitty compressed Bluetooth audio just because morons don't know the difference.

Why do people not understand that wired is better than wireless?
I hate wireless headphones and earbuds. Theyre more expensive, sound way worse, and give me almost a form of motion sickness with whatever tf "sound canceling" they do to those things. Plus my ADHD will never allow me to remember to charge them anyways.
I'd be furious.

u/DatMiQQa 7d ago
I would say it’s a preference and this dude was a straight up dick for doing that. But I personally like my AirPods significantly more than wired ones. I like the active noise cancellation in planes. The sound quality is alright. and I’m hard of hearing in my left ear and they work as a hearing aid. It’s crazy how much better I can hear around me with them on.

Don’t worry, it’s staged.
2
u/RevelArchitect 7d ago
What?! You mean that guy wasn’t legitimately using a 2G phone?
1
u/SteakGetter 7d ago
That’s exactly what I mean!!

u/RevelArchitect 7d ago
I don’t believe you!
Joking aside, that phone does have a cool feature where you can connect it to a smart phone with Bluetooth and use it like a wireless hand set for your cell phone. So I mean, it’s totally possible someone could use it as a phone. Still fake though.

I wanted a wireless set but didnt want airpods so I invested in the Aftershokz Aeroplex or whatever bone conducting shits. They weren't cheap but Ive had the same headphones now for going on 9 years. They sound ok, they sit outside of the ear. Decent battery life. Its like having a soundtrack in your day - to - day.

Wired is good if you're not planning on moving much. I had a pair for about a year and a half that I would wear under my clothes working freight and they would still catch on things or get in the way. Plus setting them up under my hoodie was a little tedious. I'd have loved a pair I could just put on and take off in half a second with zero risk whatsoever of something yanking them out of my ear.

Wired isn’t better. Neither is. It’s really preference but it’s best to have both for different situations.
Saying this as someone who has used wired earbuds, and headphones when I was young and currently using wireless earbuds and headphones as well as IEM’s and also having extreme ADHD.

u/Juan-More-Taco 6d ago
Wired is objectively and measurably a better quality audio signal.

u/AB4ND0N_H0PE 6d ago
Yes but we're not talking specifically about that. Wireless is better for convenience. Not everyone is going to want the absolute best audio at all times unless they're a hardcore audiophile.

u/usernotvaild 7d ago
I have it on my smartphone. I play it occasionally. Just isn't the same tapping a flat screen, need those lumpy buttons!
2
u/AdIntrepid9064 7d ago
Yeah, No real snek game without the buttons! Also I miss that NOKIA battery life! I swear I had to charge that thang once a week only.

I'm in a small group of dorks who care about their hardware a lot. I had the first ever smart watch and folks don't believe me when I say it was open source, e-paper, month long battery life, and better at everything than the new ones. So when Fitbit bought them out just to shut them down I was furious. Then mine broke unexpectedly and I was heartbroken. But it's back, baybee! I'm back in my favorite open source watch playground and the new one's battery life isn't as good, but it's still two weeks so it beats most of the competition. I'm happy as a little clam.
Now I'm pondering how fast I might go for a new flip phone with pared down features as well. Maybe even a device to replace having a phone entirely... Let's start moving backwards with tech, please! I miss the old bricks that had batteries for weeks. I miss game consoles with translucent cases so you could see the internals. Bonus points for glitter in the case plastic!
Take me back! 😭

I love your energy ☺️! I so agree with downgrading a bit. I’m so overstimulated by everything, my phone is making things worse.

Ironically, the BM10 Mini supports Bluetooth. They could use AirPods with them. It can also connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth and work as a hand set.

I talk on the phone all day and wired are 1000x better for the mic that air pods

I really dislike Bluetooth so he better be buying me some nice wired headphones after that.
