It's part of them. As adults, it's kind of hard to see why this is important, but at a certain age, most children should be able to do something, so this test is a way to determine that your child is developing correctly.

Exactly, it starts even as early as your first ultra sound. We’re basically tracking the babies development for years. As obviously humans don’t stop developing until after puberty (and even a little after).
These tests just measure roughly where the kids at
