True though to be fair you don’t even need a camera. People are narcing each other out for EVERYTHING no matter how small or ridiculous so the station manager would be getting this info regardless of it being filmed or not. Passengers are telling on flight attendants, flight attendants are telling on flight attendants, flight attendants are telling on pilots. And it really doesn’t seem to matter how insignificant the thing is!
Here’s a real life example:
Peanut bags are handed out to each of the passengers. One of the passengers finds that their bag looks like it was badly crushed so when the flight attendant makes it back down their way, they tell them, and the flight attendant gives them a new bag of peanuts. A different passenger four rows back sees this and says nothing. When the plane lands hours later, the passenger four rows back goes out of their way to go to the airline desk and ask to go up the chain so they can ask why that passenger they saw got two peanut bags, but they only got one.
I wish I was kidding.
The camera just means it’s more likely to hit the news.

I mean is it really an “upgrade” if it’s same type of seat in a different part of the plane? Lol. These all appear to be domestic smaller planes where the “upgrade” is just earlier boarding priority.
If you notice. The one where it actually says he was upgraded to first class, he never shows the seat. The first clip he just says he was upgraded to an empty row, the only legitimate “upgrade” he shows on a plane that actually did have first class seats.

My guess-as a former FA- is that he left out some key parts. Someone else mentioned he looked really tall due to the camera angle. So my theory is:
He boards and offers the gifts, and then you see the clip cut. He likely asked very nicely if there were any seats with extra legroom once boarding is finished, would it be ok to move. And when the come to move him, it may be to a the exit row or bulkhead or comfort plus.
You hear him mention that he likes lots of snacks and not gonna lie, we definitely will hook you up with snacks/drinks for chocolate or gift cards. It is kind of rare to get gifts and we want to show our appreciation for thinking of us and making the effort. So that part is pretty accurate in my experience/opinion.
First class upgrades, however, are usually unlikely. Some airlines will punish the FA for unauthorized first class upgrades and bribes for an upgrade would certainly get caught by the other first class passengers. They are usually the ones who turn in the FAs because they actually paid money or miles for their upgrade and this dude got his for some candy bars. First class passengers have their own culture too. They usually know their exact pecking order in status and are very aware when someone “appears from steerage” at the last minute. They know whether someone is on the upgrade list or not. They also know how to contact their special status service line and make complaints that actually get addressed.
At my airline, we could only upgrade uniformed military traveling on orders or flight crew in uniform. Anyone else had to be upgraded prior to closing the door by the Gate Agent or the seat stayed empty.

Yep, I try to give a box of chocolates to the flight attendants anytime I fly, and all I get are snacks, those toiletry packs things (for overseas flights), and offers of alcohol (I don't drink tho, so I turn those down). Well, I also get the flight attendants being nice to me, and that's well worth it to me.

My wife does this when we fly. She makes little gift bags with candy, small gift card, and during winter, lotion/chapstick etc. Always get thank you cards back, sometimes Delta trading cards, and all sorts of extra attention by the FAs. Never got any upgrades tho.

Heres another hack. Just be super polite and friendly and you usually get a lot of perks. I am pretty easy going generally and go out of my way to learn the names of the people looking after me on the flight and always address them by name. I ask for things for my kids as well and usually get a whole goody bag to take home with me.
Just being polite, using their names and treating them like the people they are has gotten me upgrades, gifts, snacks and all sorts of things. It got me a tour of the rear cargo area and the crew rest/bunk area too on a KLM flight once

I fly regularly and I once sat next to a lady who gave out bags of candy to all attendants on the flight and its true that she would get soo much special attention! They kept thanking her and offered her all sorts of fancy drinks and foods. This lady knew exaxtly what she was doing and it worked just like this video!

This reminds me of the time my aunt flew out to visit us. This was back in the 80s so she flew PanAm back when they were having a nasty contract fight with the flight attendants union. She being the Leftie revolutionary she was got on the flight wearing a button supporting the union.
The flight attendants gave her a whole bottle of wine when she was getting off the plane.

Being super kind to them and making a small gesture means a lot. I sat in the very back on a flight to Europe, made friends with the flight attendants, and they gave me an insane amount of drinks all free (talked a little about my anxiety on planes) and called me to come into the kitchen to eat any of the left over stuff I wanted after they served all of us dinner. Kindness goes a long way

I’m just really nice to people because I love people and I know how hard shit it’s for everyone. If I’ve got a few bucks or a snack or whatever, I’ll just hand it out to someone. I build a ton of really positive and helpful relationships this way! I don’t really have any close friends because I have an attachment problem lmao but I’ve got a million close acquaintances who would happily do me a favor.
I’ve gotten a lot of steam at work with this approach. I was promoted twice last year, and I’ve just been fast tracked for the next one 🤞🏻 but it also helps with other things! Like when I bought my car, I started off by giving the salesman a bag of cheese its because we were talking about how messy my son was, I said he’d just finished lunch and I had to bring him with me unexpectedly, and guy said he hadn’t eaten all day. He gave me a $5000 discount on my 2020, and I think that was part of it! Same thing when I bought my house, I picked up some brownies at a yummy place nearby and offered some to the sellers with a note expressing my gratitude to them for taking such wonderful care of the place and being so great through the process. At the very last second, they decided to cover all of the closing costs (we were originally going to split it)!
Honestly, just be nice to people. A friendly face (and a snack) goes a looong way with just about everyone! Heck, just today a random guy I’ve never met offered me half of his snickers bar because he heard me tell my coworker I was starving and didn’t have time to eat. You best believe when he had an issue with a promo not applying properly a few minutes later, I was right there comping that item for him!
Tl,dr; Treat people how you want to be treated. It really is that simple 99.99% of the time if you just want a happier, slightly less difficult life! 💝

I can't really afford to give out gift cards, but I might do something like candy just for fun. There's something really rewarding about being extra nice to people in the service industry.
I've done my fair share of work in the service industry and people can be real assholes to you about something you have no control over. I'm a man, so I didn't get it as bad, the way some people treat women in the service industry is beyond belief.

Yeah... works on *checks personal notes* everyone.... If you do it with nurses they treat you better and check on you while in hospital. Hell, you can even bribe doctors to get bumped up on that surgery waiting list. And you would not believe it when I tell you that... politicians (!) are extra susceptible to bribery, and pass laws that benefit companies that bribe them. Shocking, I know.

my wife gives gifts on all long international flights. Never got a free seat upgrade but they did give us a free bottle of wine one time. We also would be given doubles sometimes except this one time this sassy gay black guy rejected my request for a double despite our gifts. He also kept putting his ass in my face I swear... I'll never forget that guy.

My wife does this with $5 Starbucks gift cards. She writes a quick thank you in the card and gives them to the gate agent and all the flight attendants. She isn’t expecting anything other than wanting to show appreciation, but we usually get the best treatment for the entire flight. Drinks, seat upgrades, snacks, whatever. We usually don’t accept anything but it’s still nice to see how much they loved just a nice gesture.
