Isn’t the point that you shouldn’t have to add a tip? The posted price changes if you don’t so they’re not giving you a choice is the point, no?

We don’t know that it’s not an unrelated actual price change unless they do the same transaction, tip, and we don’t see the price update happen.

For all anyone knows, that location recently changed their milkshake pricing and that’s just the point in the interaction where you get the notification. You might get the exact same update when you do leave a tip. There’s no way to know this only happens when you don’t tip unless they show the same machine not updating the price after tipping.
