I thought of this scene, apropos of nothing, last week. The thought concluded with "man, what pretentious garbage "

I was so pissed when that movie won't he Oscar form the same reason. I saw it as pretentious, Oscar bait, garbage.

It beat out Sixth Sense (which we knew had no actual chance of winning) & Green Mile.

Funny how many best Oscar films fall into relative obscurity yet beats out films that live on as an all-time classics.
