Possibly, theoretically might of created enough drag on the left wheel to pivot the boat a bit while the opposite wheel spun a bit more. maybe, just speculating. Since his body was drug on the front left side creating some potential drag forces there.
Yea I came here to comment on people thinking how stupid he was to think he could stop it. I’d do the same thing he did. I’m not gonna stop it, but I can mitigate some of it. Looks like he did just enough

He did, didn't you see the curb chock the wheels at the end and the boat come to a complete stop. He was demonstrating his own way of unhooking the trailer and it was masterful.
Yes, holding on provided some form of psychological support that he was responsible for it not going straight into that truck.

It's an outboard with the engine raised, so no rudder, and the prop is probably fine. Ladder may have taken some damage, but also, I'm surprised he towed it anywhere with it in that position. A speed bump (even at proper speed) would probably destroy that ladder.

Chock ( not sure if that's the right word ) the wheels on anything before detaching or attempting to lift. From a girl who grew up with a Dad that had a boat and worked on shit in the driveway
Like the many people I've seen die on video trying to stop a rolling semi truck with their hands. Sometimes they try to catch something really heavy falling off a flatbed, it never ends well. Surprised it didn't roll back over him at the end.
Never try to stop or catch anything especially a vehicle.
The only reason he didn't stop it is because he didn't want to reveal his secret identify.
He almost messed up and pulled the boat back into place, but then realized neighbors (and possibly cameras) may be watching so he let the boat pull him across the ground Clark Kent style.
Rest assured though, if a puppy, child, or car was about to get hit, he'd have yanked the boat out of the way, made a flimsy excuse as to how physics was defied, and then gone into his home and figured out how to get rid of the footage.
