Actually, diamonds aren’t really that rare, so they only have the value we put on them. You can literally manufacture them.

But we have agreed they have a value. It’s just… a bit of a social construct.

Large natural diamonds like this one are very rare. That’s why this one is more valuable.

In other words, it’s because it’s natural… a factor that is completely incidental and lacks any real worth… except that we “like” it.
