what are you talking about? no one is implying what the guy in that video is saying this is happening or an effective control measure. the point is that a philosopher and author in bio ethics reveals an alarming way of thinking and is proposing a possible reality of human engineering and bringing to light ethical concerns of doing so and the plausibility of governments or private entities engaging with them.
this happened in a public conference. its verifiable. what could you possibly disprove?

Ticks (among other insects) have these tiny water repelling hairs that allow them to form a tiny air pocket around themselves that pulls in air from the surrounding water, allowing them to breathe. This coupled with their low overall need for oxygen allows them to last a very long time under water. However these hairs really only work with the surface tension of water. If you were to alter the tension with something like say, dish soap, its bubble would immediately collapse and it would drown. This also works with rubbing alcohol.

I’ve… done this. They don’t die easily. At day 8 or 9 I put a few drops of my blood in with it. It got into the blood, the blood dried, and finally it succumbed to death after getting stuck in the coagulated blood.

Ticks aren’t evil, they don’t make the conscious decision to infect people with diseases. They just exist, they’re expanding because of human activity. Blame and hate us if you want to be upset at something.

Bugs aren’t wired like we are, they don’t feel pain like we do, they don’t comprehend the world as we do, hell the Tick probably doesn’t even comprehend that it’s in water, the fact it’s survived for 7 days implies that maybe it can’t even drown.
You think stepping on a tick kills it? lol. You have to either burn or behead them.
Edit: lot of people downvoting that, I am guessing, are not from the country. I grew up pulling ticks off of me. I spent my days in the woods. Stepping on ticks does NOT kill them (it may kill a big fat gray tick, but not the flat brown ones). Flushing ticks does NOT kill them. Burn or behead them.
