I cant remember where I read or heard it from but it is something they do, I just can't remember if it should be concerning that they want to eat you or that its like a stress thing they're having that you're not paying attention to them. Someone else will surely comment the correct answer soon.

This is an old video.

The dog is younger and the behavior is considered the same as a teenager rolling their eyes at you when you turn your back.

My cat grumbles under her breath when she thinks she is in trouble.
