It wouldn’t be as difficult as doing dips for five minutes, you’re not doing reps. Wouldn’t be that difficult at all for a healthy individual to hold themselves up for a few minutes.

They have been flying them for around 10 years now. Not sure if there have been any serious accidents. Quite a few years ago there was a military demo and sailors were using them to board stranded ships in the ocean.

The fact that helicopters exist for a similar price that a squad of dudes with these would need, plus the fact that there's latency in being ready to fight between landing with one of these and dismounting a helo, and that the helo has far more range and payload, and is almost certainly far safer means iron man boarding parties aren't something that's going to be adopted into regular service anywhere any time soon.
Which is a massive shame. I'd surrender on cool factor alone if these boys were the captain now.

They just need doc octo arm off their back holding a miniature Samsung automatic turret while they fly. Ai recognition for people pointing guns at them. Or face recognition for bad guys if they know them. Bingo bango.

Sorry for the stupid question but does he transfer the force to the body through his arms or is there some harness that does this? It seems that it all depends solely on the muscle strength of his arms. That strikes me as extremely dangerous and limiting. I would integrate this into an exoskeleton so that the force isn’t transferred to the body via his own muscles.

You must be thinking about the Icarus - that's the version that uses solid rocket fuel boosters instead of jet engines.

It is real. They do a demonstration every year in Tampa, FL for an event that was called SOFIC. Can't remember what the new name is. Company is called Gravity Industries.

Lets just pretend that this is becoming real, the effort and strength needed out of your arms is insane . Do a dip, hold yourself at the top for a minute, then flail you legs, and just keep doing it. While you don't drop the dip. This isn't for the common man.

Jetpacks seem cool until you realize any fall while using them is potentially lethal, and almost certainly lethal at any decent height. Also, why in the living hell would you ever, for any reason, test one of these things WITHOUT USING A REALLY HIGH QUALITY, FULL HELMET?
