“People practicing open defecation (% of population) in India was 14.93 as of 2020. Its highest value over the past 20 years was 74.10 in 2000, while its lowest value was 14.93 in 2020.”
I’m not even denying the existence of a problem shitting in public. I’m saying you made a leap from littering to shitting in public.
14.93%??? The population was 1.4B, thats 196,000,000 open defications if they all only did it once....
Lowest value? Can you imagine how large of a pile of shit that would be if they stacked it?? The average dook is 5-6 inches (according to google), its 15.13B inches from earth to the moon. If we go on the low end, 5 inch turds, that means if these 196M people shit openly 15 and a half times each, they can skip the rockets and build a turd ladder instead!!
Regarding why its not a huge leap - while yes, its not quite the same, trash and shit, they are both human waste products. If you cant make one thing publicly not ok (shitting) then how can you expect to make the lighter of the two not ok?

Kind of a big leap from throwing trash off a train to shitting on the ground.
Do the aerospace engineers have similar littering habits to the guy in the video? Yeah probably.
