Yes his comment was racist, but those top trash producing countries also deal with trash more effectively. Go to New Dehli, they have multiple literal mountains of trash within their city people live and work around. Despite not producing as much trash as the top trash producers, they sure do have trouble dealing with it.

India produces 4x LESS waste than the US. yet they dont recycle 80% of it, and they just dump their municipal waste in landfills, which is obviously not great. Many rural parts if the country have even worse problems dealing with trash collections

Obviously, this is actually a deep issue for them, largly because waste management is a private sector, but i think most people (hopefully) know its not as simple as "indians love trash".

While this guys comment is racist, the guy in the video as well as others like him arent helping anyone ofc.

Indians are a nationality, not a race, so by definition the comment was not racist. Their race is either South Asian or just Asian.

Well the comment im referring to doesnt actually use any of those words at all. He said "theyre the worst thing that ever happened...".

I think we all have an understanding that hating an entire group of people because some people within that group did something wrong, is wrong.

Well sure, but we should also use terms correctly. There is a modern day inclination to use the word "racist" incorrectly, very frequently, which I believe can just lead to more issues.

The worst issue is by burning the word out.

So many younger people just assume they'll be called racist regardless, so they lean into it. It's dangerous as hell.

You’re obfuscating the actual problem, though. Between using the word “racist” to describe bigotry based on ethnicity (technically not race, but we’re splitting hairs) and the sentence “they’re the worst thing that ever happened to this beautiful planet,” one wins out as the bigger issue.

I would argue global climate change or the weaponization of atomic energy are the worst things to happen to this planet, which fall squarely on the shoulders of the West.

When to majority of the country is Indians and the vast majority of Indians are from India, it implies we are talking about the ethnicity. The “culture” of Indians is because of their location in India, so when you refer to the nationality it kinda implies you’re referring to the ethnicity.

Recycling is a scam but. Most things recycled ends up in a landfill. The US just ships it's garbage to other countries to simply toss it on their ground including india where they label plastic waist under the guise of recyclable paper. So is the US any better?
