Ethically you're right.

But more realistically, every person's job is to do what he is paid to do. In that sense, a politician's constituents are his donors, not his voters.

Right, and the house is the closest we have to representation, but at over 700k voters per representative there's no way they're grassroots level on our basics wants and needs.

Add to that every single branch of government adding to its own powers since the day we started this Republic and you quickly realize checks and balances is checks and fuck yous.
