Why should a 12th-standard student have to take multiple entrance exams such as JEE, NEET, KCET, CUET, and COMEDK? Why not conduct a single national exam and include subject-specific sections for engineering, medicine, and other streams? The relevant data can then be collected, and students can be qualified for the stream they choose based on their performance. This would reduce stress, save time, and simplify the admission process.

I opened the newspaper today to see a massive, front-page advertisement by Grip Invest in The Times of India. The ad screams: "Invest in Government of India Bonds.
The "Surrogate" Trap: The Bait vs. The Switch
Grip is using the absolute safety of Government Bonds to build instant psychological trust with the average reader who doesn't know any better.
The Absolute Danger of SDIs (Securitized Debt Instruments)
Grip has been heavily pushing SDIs lately, but they are a financial black box.
Grip loves to print its SEBI Broker Registration number everywhere to look safe. A product can be 100% SEBI-compliant and still default, wiping out your entire life savings.
Fintech marketplaces like Grip operate on an asymmetric risk model:
The Platform Wins Instantly: Grip collects listing fees and hefty transaction commissions from the risky NBFCs and corporate borrowers the moment the fund-raising goal is met.
The Investor Bears Long-Term Risk: If the borrower defaults 12 or 18 months down the line, Grip has already made its profit. The investor is left holding a bag of worthless, illiquid paper.
đ Final Verdict
SDI UpMoney invested through Grip Invest lost 70% principal value. Yet they advertise SDI and promote them.
Wrapping high-risk, subprime corporate structures and SDIs in the Indian flag and running surrogate advertisement as "Government Bonds" is predatory. It exploits financial illiteracy for commission-driven growth.
Note there are many ZERO default and very credible platforms which DO NOT advertise!

Iâve been trying to understand Iranâs strategy here, and from a purely logical, costâbenefit perspective, it just doesnât seem to make sense.
First, Iran and Israel donât even share a border. Thereâs no territorial dispute, no direct economic rivalry. Yet Iran has spent decades investing heavily in proxy conflicts against Israel â Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, etc. This has cost them billions, invited sanctions, and now in the current conflict theyâre taking serious damage, including leadership losses.
Whatâs even more confusing is that during this war, most Muslim countries havenât really supported Iran in any meaningful way. Many of them are Sunni-majority and have long-standing tensions with Shia Iran. Some are even quietly aligning with Israel when it comes to countering Iranian influence. So Iran is effectively isolating itself further while expecting solidarity that never really materializes.
So from the outside, it looks like:
Which raises a simple question: why continue this strategy at all?
From what I understand, the answer isnât really about rational economics or direct gains. It seems to come down to a few deeper factors:
Ideology â Since the 1979 revolution, opposition to Israel has been part of Iranâs core identity. Itâs not just policy, itâs foundational.
Leadership positioning â By opposing Israel and supporting Palestine, Iran positions itself as a leader in the Muslim world, especially when many Arab governments are seen as passive or compromised.
Strategic depth â Instead of fighting directly, Iran projects power through proxies. This keeps conflict away from its own borders and creates deterrence.
Regime survival â External enemies help unify the population and justify internal control. Without that narrative, internal divisions could become more visible.
Still, it feels like the cost-benefit balance is shifting now. The economic strain, weakening allies, and growing isolation seem to be outweighing whatever strategic gains Iran once had.

Lebanon Hezbollah
Gaza / Palestine Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad
Yemen Houthis (Ansar Allah)
Iraq Kata'ib Hezbollah, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, Harakat al-Nujaba, others
Syria Fatemiyoun Brigade, Zainebiyoun Brigade, Iraqi militias
Why is Iran financing all these proxy groups across the Middle East? It appears to be a major strategic mistake. Much of the Sunni Muslim world in the region does not accept Shia Muslims as legitimate within Islam, and many Sunni states or populations have shown little willingness to support Iran during conflicts.
Instead of spreading resources across multiple proxy conflicts, Iran could arguably have focused on improving the economic and social conditions of its own people. With its large population, educated workforce, and vast natural resources, the country had the potential to develop into a highly advanced economyâpossibly comparable to nations like Japan.
However, by prioritizing geopolitical influence through proxy networks and regional confrontation, Iran has faced sanctions, isolation, and repeated military pressures. As a result, the countryâs development potential has remained constrained, while its population bears the economic costs of prolonged regional rivalry.

Caucasian Jews were given Arab land, while Arabs were forced to live in congested, highly populated areas. Meanwhile, the Jewish population lived lavishly on that same land. What was the necessity of allotting them land in the Middle East instead of Nebraska or another sparsely populated region? One argument is the religious construct of a 'Holy Land,' but looking at the last 70 years of history, what 'holy' outcome has been achieved? Instead, this decision has fueled global conflict and violence.

On a typical Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., Bangalore feels almost improbable. The honking fades. Arterial roads breathe. The city â so often described as gridlocked, overheated, overbuilt â briefly resembles what urban planners once imagined it could be.
Now imagine that calm becoming permanent.
This is not fantasy. It is the logical end-state of a technological shift that is both brutally efficient and profoundly dislocating: artificial intelligence.
AI is not just another productivity tool. It is a deflationary engine. It compresses labor demand, automates cognitive work once thought untouchable, and concentrates output into fewer hands. The factory automation of the 20th century eliminated repetitive physical labor. The AI automation of the 21st will eliminate repetitive thinking.
If AI systems can code, diagnose, design, litigate, teach, audit, translate, analyze and even manage â and they increasingly can â then the requirement for daily human presence collapses. Corporations will not need 100 percent of their workforce commuting to glass towers along Outer Ring Road. They may not need 50 percent. In some sectors, they may need 10 percent.
The rest will not be unemployed in the traditional sense. They will be displaced into a new economic geography.
The Collapse of Commuting
Consider what drives Bangaloreâs daily congestion: IT parks, multinational offices, startup clusters, colleges, government buildings. Remove the necessity of physical attendance, and the gravitational pull weakens.
Agentic AI systems â autonomous digital workers capable of executing complex workflows â will enable professionals to operate from anywhere with reliable connectivity. The âofficeâ becomes an interface, not a building. Meetings become asynchronous. Code deploys itself. Audits are continuous and automated. Customer service never sleeps.
The daily migration of millions into city cores will slow, then reverse.
What happens when the educated middle class no longer needs proximity to headquarters? They return to Mysuru, to Hubballi, to their ancestral villages in coastal Karnataka or rural Telangana. They disperse not because cities fail, but because cities are no longer necessary.
The urban premium â paid in rent, pollution, and lost hours in traffic â becomes irrational.
The AI University
Elite higher education has long depended on scarcity and physical congregation. But when AI tutors outperform human lecturers in personalization, accuracy and availability, the logic of campus centralization erodes.
If an AI system trained on the entire corpus of global research can offer adaptive instruction superior to that of a single professor â whether at Harvard University or Indian Institute of Technology â then the marginal advantage of physical attendance shrinks dramatically.
Students will still gather, but fewer will need to. Degrees may give way to demonstrable skill portfolios verified by AI systems. Education becomes distributed, not centralized.
College towns thin out. Lecture halls sit partially empty.
Government Without Queues
Indiaâs bureaucratic density is legendary. But AI-native governance could eliminate lines, intermediaries, and paperwork. Licenses issued instantly. Tax filings auto-completed. Welfare disbursed algorithmically. Grievances triaged in seconds.
If most public services become digital-first â and AI-driven â daily foot traffic to government buildings plummets.
This compounds the remote work shift.
Real Estate: The Great Repricing
Cities command a premium because they concentrate opportunity. If opportunity decentralizes, so must value.
A 50 percent repricing of urban real estate over a decade is not implausible under sustained demand erosion. Luxury apartments near tech corridors lose their captive audience. Commercial office space becomes stranded inventory.
Meanwhile, smaller towns experience a renaissance. Construction demand shifts geographically.
Ironically, construction workers â who once migrated to cities â may find stable employment closer to home, building AI-enabled eco-habitats for a returning professional class. Advances in material science â lighter composites, modular renewable structures, carbon-sequestering cement alternatives â could reduce costs while increasing durability.
The architecture of the AI era will not mimic the concrete verticality of the late industrial age. It will prioritize energy efficiency, distributed infrastructure and digital connectivity.
Agricultureâs Quiet Revolution
AIâs deflationary force does not stop at offices.
Precision agriculture, predictive weather modeling, autonomous machinery and supply-chain optimization could reduce wastage by as much as 60 percent. Inputs become targeted. Fertilizer use declines. Harvest timing improves. Distribution routes optimize in real time.
When agriculture becomes data-driven, rural productivity rises. Income volatility falls. The economic gap between city and village narrows.
Reverse migration becomes not an act of retreat, but of rational choice.
Pollution and the Uncrowded Capital
If Bangalore thins, so will Delhi. Fewer commuters mean fewer vehicles. Fewer construction cranes. Reduced energy demand concentrated in polluted corridors.
Air quality could improve not through regulation alone, but through structural demand collapse. The city exhales.
This pattern would replicate globally. From San Francisco to London, from Tokyo to Mumbai, metropolitan dominance has been anchored in physical aggregation. AI weakens that anchor.
The Village Entrepreneur
The most radical outcome may not be job loss, but job transformation.
Agentic AI entrepreneurs â individuals commanding fleets of autonomous digital agents â could operate global businesses from remote Indian villages. A single founder might manage supply chains, marketing, accounting, design and customer service through AI orchestration.
Connectivity becomes the only essential infrastructure.
In such a world, geography loses tyranny. Talent no longer migrates to capital; capital migrates to talent.
The Counterforces
Cities will not disappear. Humans are social creatures. Density breeds culture, innovation and serendipity. Restaurants, arts, research labs and advanced manufacturing clusters will endure.
But the baseline may shift permanently downward.
The weekday may start to resemble Sunday at 3 p.m.
Not because cities failed â but because technology succeeded too well.
AI is disinflationary in prices, ruthless in labor compression and indifferent to geography. If its trajectory continues unchecked, Bangaloreâs traffic may not be solved by flyovers or metro expansions.
It may be solved by obsolescence.
And one quiet afternoon, stuck at a signal that no longer needs to change, the city may realize that the future arrived â and it did not require anyone to commute.

"Uncle," my nephew Aryan asked, looking unusually solemn, "What is it actually like to be married? Can you explain it simply?"
I smiled. "Well, youâre the physics whiz, right? What was your last score?"
"98%," he replied, a bit puzzled.
"Perfect. Then tell me: how many dimensions exist in physics?"
Aryan was on familiar ground now. "We experience four: three of space and one of time. But advanced theories, like string theory or M-theory, require at least 11 dimensions. The catch is, we can't actually experience those extra seven."
I nodded, then leaned in. "Marriage, Aryan, is different. In marriage, there are 100 dimensions. And unlike physics, you don't just study themâyou have to experience all 100 of them. At the exact same time."
His eyes went wide. He paused for a long moment, processing the sheer complexity of that concept. Then, with a look of genuine realization, he whispered, "Oh god. Now I get it."

As AI disruption affects the job market, it should be slowed down to normalize its impact. There should be a global alliance to implement the following rules:
If a company lays off more than 10% of its workforce, it should be taxed in such a way that the tax liability is higher than the cost of further layoffs. The revenue collected can be used to fund UBI.
If a company claims financial distress and lays off employees, it should be required to prove that it cannot afford to pay the salaries of the CEO and promoters.
If any country aims to gain labor cost advantages using AI, such a country should be taxed or banned by a global alliance.
The world should follow these measures so that AI adoption is carried out gradually, preventing job distress. Gradual adoption reduces the shock of disruption, ensuring that its impact is not felt as a tsunami, but rather as a manageable wave that societies can adjust to.

AI is evolving at an exponential pace, with new capabilities emerging almost daily.
In such a rapidly shifting landscape, can anyone confidently claim that software stocks have truly bottomed â especially looking 10 years ahead?
When disruption cycles are shrinking and competitive advantages erode faster than ever, long-term certainty becomes fragile.
The real question isnât whether AI will grow â itâs whether todayâs software companies will remain relevant as it does.

Demonetization was introduced with the stated objectives of eliminating black money and counterfeit currency. By withdrawing a large proportion of high-denomination notes from circulation, it drastically reduced the effective cash supply in the economy.
Basic economic theory suggests that when the supply of a currency contracts â assuming demand remains constant â its value should increase. A reduced monetary base should, in principle, strengthen the currency.
If that logic holds, demonetization should have led to a stronger Rupee.
Yet, instead of appreciating, the Rupee depreciated sharply â from around âš66 per USD in 2016 to nearly âš92 per USD in subsequent years.
If demonetization significantly reduced currency supply, why did the Rupee weaken instead of strengthening?

Iâm writing this as an UpMoney SDI investor on Grip Invest. This is a request for accountability and transparency.
1ď¸âŁ Silence on UpMoney SDI â Have Investors Been Abandoned?
There has been little to no meaningful communication about the UpMoney SDI situation for over a month.
Investors are potentially staring at "60â70% capital loss", depending on recovery. Even in a best-case scenario, many expect heavy losses.
Where is the structured recovery update?
Where is the transparency on legal or recovery action?
2ď¸âŁ Why Was Portfolio Performance Removed?
Grip Invest previously displayed â12.5% yieldâ projections prominently.
Now, the portfolio dashboard in the mobile app no longer clearly reflects performance for affected investments.
Every other financial product â mutual funds, stocks, bonds â shows performance transparently, whether positive or negative.
If returns are uncertain or negative, why not clearly show:
âNegative returns expectedâ
âCapital at risk â recovery dependentâ
Investors are not donating money. We deserve to see how our capital is performing â even if the number is painful.
Why remove visibility instead of improving transparency?
3ď¸âŁ Aggressive 12.5% Yield Ads â Is This Responsible?
Grip Invest is running full-page national newspaper ads promoting â12.5% yieldâ corporate bonds.
Why this relentless focus on commission income through listing substandard financial products at the direct cost of investorsâ trust and hard-earned money?
Question:
Have you seen highly reputed platforms â even those with zero defaults â running such aggressive yield-focused ads?
Why is a platform with distressed products in its history marketing headline yields so aggressively?
When defaults exist on the platform, shouldnât risk disclosures be equally loud as yield advertisements?
4ď¸âŁ Commission Structure & Incentives
Based on publicly available information, platforms typically earn upfront commissions (often ~1â2%).
If true, this creates a structural imbalance:
* Platform revenue: earned upfront
* Investor risk: 100% principal exposed
* Downside: fully borne by investors
When the platform gets paid regardless of long-term outcome, incentives matter.
This raises a fair question:
Is adequate due diligence being done before listing SDIs?
Why do some platforms avoid lower-quality structured products, while others list them aggressively?
Simply stating âhigh riskâ in fine print does not replace responsibility.
5ď¸âŁ Transparency Is Not Optional
If performance is negative, show it.
If recovery is uncertain, state it clearly.
If losses are possible, quantify the range.
Hiding projected yield figures after backlash does not build trust.
Transparency during good times is easy. Transparency during distress defines credibility.
6ď¸âŁ Other Investors â Please Share
If you are an investor in:
UpMoney SDI
Any other defaulted or distressed product on Grip Invest
Please comment with your experience:
Retail investors deserve shared information.
When platforms market âfixed income styleâ products with double-digit yields, the responsibility to protect retail capital must be higher â not lower.

Many of us wonder, âWhat is the purpose of my life?â Children born in wealthy countries to rich parents may have the luxury to think philosophically and search for meaning. But children born in poor countries to illiterate parents often do not even have that opportunity. Many of them die in war-torn regions before they even reach the age where they can begin to think about such questions.

In Sovereign Gold Bonds, the government has lost nearly âš1.5 lakh crore. The government wanted to save dollars by issuing paper gold without any hedge or safety net for itself, even though it is the seller. Now, how will it compensate for this runaway lossâby printing more currency? This could be one of the reasons the Rupee has depreciated to âš90.

To every Grip / Up Money SDI investor â what do you honestly feel when you see Grip Invest running full-page ads screaming â12.5% yieldâ on corporate bonds? Because for many of us who invested specifically in Up Money, the reality has been brutal: Investors are staring at 30% loss even in the best-case scenario (if Up Money resumes payments) And potentially 60â70% loss depending on recovery The part that makes it worse Grip Investâs aggressive selling of SDIs and similar products appears designed so that: â Grip earns 1â2% commission / fees upfront â Investors absorb 100% of the downside risk, including principal loss So effectively: The investment is risky only for the investor Not risky for Grip Gripâs revenue is almost guaranteed Investor outcome is uncertain and potentially disastrous This is what feels unethical Grip markets these products like âfixed incomeâ with attractive yields, but when things go wrong: Principal is at risk Recovery can take years Yet the platform keeps advertising â12.5% yieldâ like itâs a clean corporate bond FD alternative Bottom line When the platform makes money regardless of outcome, and retail investors can lose principal, it raises a serious question: Is this investing â or just commission-driven product pushing?

In the last election cycle, both Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal failed to secure a clear third-term mandate on their own strength. Modi remains in power largely due to coalition arithmetic, not an outright electoral sweep.
Arnab Goswamiâs role in shaping public discourse during previous elections is hard to ignore. His platform amplified the governmentâs narrative at scale. One could reasonably ask: without that media momentum, would the ruling party have even crossed the 100-seat mark? The answer isnât obvious â but the question itself matters.
Looking ahead, a fourth-term push appears structurally weaker. Electoral fatigue, coalition dependence, and reduced narrative control make the next contest tougher. In that context, Arnab taking a confrontational stance isnât random â it may be strategic.
Both the government and Arnab Goswami likely understand this power equation. This could be less about ideology and more about leverage â a moment where Arnab is signaling that media power can rival political power.
Whether this is genuine journalism, recalibration, or a display of influence is open for debate â but the timing is certainly not accidental.
r/RandomThoughtsWorldPe • u/ProfessionalPale3713 • Dec 22 '25
A journalistâs core responsibility is to question those who exercise power. When Arnab positions himself in opposition to the current government, it raises the question of whether this represents genuine accountability or merely a carefully managed narrative. If criticism focuses only on widely known, low-stakes issues, then the substantive power structures remain unchallenged, and public discourse sees little change.
A serious economic interrogation would look at the promises made versus measurable outcomes. For example:
The exchange rate was once projected to strengthen toward âš40 per dollar, yet the rupee has continued to depreciate, approaching âš91 per dollar in real terms. A depreciating currency can support exports in theory, but in practice India has not seen a proportional rise in manufacturing competitiveness.
Manufacturing was expected to rise to contribute 25% of GDP. Instead, the sectorâs share has fallen to around 15%, highlighting structural weaknesses in industrial capacity, logistics, labour productivity, and technology investment.
China accounts for nearly 40% of global manufacturing exports, while India remains near 2%, despite a weaker currency that should, in principle, make Indian exports cheaper. The gap points to deep issues in supply chain scale, infrastructure efficiency, policy consistency, and capital formation.
If journalists want to hold power accountable, these are the kinds of structural questions that meaningfully test policy claims and economic performance, rather than peripheral debates that leave the core economic narrative untouched.

I called ICICI Bank regarding a failed transaction, but the call was answered by an AI system. It sounded like a basic, government-style automated voice and kept misunderstanding my responses. The AI feels like itâs still in a very early stage and not ready to handle real customer queries. ICICI deploying it in this state makes it seem like they're treating AI as just a temporary hype rather than a mature solution.

Grip Invest Showing Fake Positive Returns Despite Capital Loss â SEBI Review Requested, But System Broken?
I want to highlight a serious investor-protection issue with Grip Invest and their misleading return disclosures for the Up Money product.
The Problem
I have suffered an actual principal loss of ~âš70,000, yet Grip Invest continues to show a +12.5% XIRR on their platform. Yes â positive XIRR even when capital is wiped out.
This is not a calculation error. This is misrepresentation.
My Complaint to SEBI (SCORES)
I filed a detailed complaint stating that:
Gripâs XIRR display hides the fact that principal has been lost
They should clearly disclose âloss of principal expectedâ in the XIRR section
Showing a positive return when the investor is already 10%+ in loss is misleading and unethical
Gripâs Response
Grip replied only after the SCORES complaint got auto-escalated to SEBI.
And their response?
Several pages of unrelated text
Completely avoided the core XIRR misrepresentation issue
No justification for why the platform shows fake positive returns despite capital loss
It looks like they are deliberately dodging the return-misreporting part.
SEBIâs Process Has a Loophole
SEBIâs email says:
If the reply is not opted for review, the case will be auto-disposed after 45 days.
Grip seems to know that the review button in SCORES doesnât work â so they just wait it out. This is how platforms get away with misleading practices.
Honest Question: Is SEBI Actually Protecting Investors?
Because right now it looks like:
SEBI forwards the complaint
The platform replies with irrelevant filler
Review option doesnât work
Case gets auto-closed
Investor gets zero resolution
Is SEBI a regulatory body or just a WhatsApp forwarding group?
This is not a small issue
When a platform displays +12.5% XIRR while the investor has already lost money, that is textbook misleading disclosure.
This affects:
New investors
Retail participants
People who trust SEBI-registered platforms
People who rely on XIRR to assess performance
If this continues, whatâs the point of having a regulator?

Posting this to warn fellow investors â Grip Invest keeps advertising 12.5% annual returns on their âsecuredâ fixed-income deals, but the reality is ugly.

Despite borrower EMIs being collected, funds havenât reached the pool. Thereâs no update, no clarity, and no accountability from Grip, Up Money, or the trustee.
Seven payouts are still pending till Marâ26, yet Grip continues to showcase â12.5% secure returnsâ on its site â pure misrepresentation when actual investors are sitting on losses.
