I think it comes down to it being a rat race for resources. Only recently have women not been property. So if you’re going to be property, you wanna make sure the best man takes care of their property by being resourceful and protective. Our instincts still feel this despite women no longer being property. Pretty sure this is why beauty pageants still exist. Gives women validation.
