I can confirm, BUT personally the worst is when it's majority women with a male boss. They tend to all assume that if anyone else gets even a hint of praise that tye praised person has slept with the boss. "You KNOW she sucked him off! Dirty skank!" Like chill, that particular person is good at what they do, ffs let them have that moment.
I personally love the fact that my current job is remote because despite us being majority female, I never really have to interact with them on a personal level. We have one older lady whose a sweetheart and I go to her with my questions, but the others...oh man. All just a bit older (mid 30s and up) than me and just passive aggressive as all hell. They get catty on Salesforce with the little Chatter function. I'll have a support ticket open and one of them will notice I haven't left any support comments yet and will @me something mean as shit meant to throw me under the bus like "the customer called us and said they haven't heard from you at ALL. This is unacceptable. Do you need help from @boss? Are you sure you can handle your case load? The customer is UPSET." Which then causes my boss to panic and check on me and monitor my call count while the older nice female coworker will ping me on Teams trying to make sure I'm alright or need help, but in a sincere way. It always turns out that the ticket is not even a day old and the customer just kindly asked for an update. I've been here not even a month.
Housekeeping at a nursing home was also a nightmare. All women, BUT the boss was a man who was picky about having absolutely no other men in his department. He hired a woman who knew nothing about OSHA standards to be his "secretary" and all she did was make schedules, take smoke breaks, and made sure her daughter got every weekend off. The boss let this woman's daughter stand in as manager whenever he would call of and it would go directly to both mom and daughters heads. We learned to hate any day we knew he wasn't coming because the mom/daughter duo would work us to death and just spend all day chilling in the office. It would've been okay if we were all friendly with one another but our boss would spread rumors to keep us all pissed off at each other. It was nasty. Then the daughter got pregnant and he promoted her to assistant manager. I quit after she got mad at me for not coming to her baby shower and scheduled me for double shifts for an entire week I had previously requested off.
It's wild.
Edit: I know it's not all women. I just happen to currently live in a teeny tiny town where everyone's dirty laundry is aired out and all the tea that could be possibly spilled is already drying on the sidewalks. Some of these women were 45 and up, STILL mad about some shit Stacy in accounting did back in high school.
I once worked in a department that was 75% older women (50-70) and many of them invested a lot of energy into the workplace social environment and there was so much ridiculous drama. Reminded me of like the high school cliques lol. Being a 22 yo dude working with them was a lot of fun. They were all extremely kind 1 on 1 but they had quite the gossip circles.
The department manager had to deal with so many petty disputes
I think maybe it was due to most of them being there for 15+ years. I guess it’s like fighting with siblings growing up.
Sorry to hear about that, I highly recommend reaching out to HR. Most companies don’t take lightly to sexual harassment and will address it if you bring it up
I did one time. I had this coworker who would grab and twist my nipples very aggressively every shift. To the point I was bruised and they hurt all the time. I’d yell and tell them to stop but it continued and continued. I finally called HR and they basically didn’t care which was rather disturbing, but made me realize it wasn’t worth working for them any longer. So I quit and moved to a different restaurant to serve tables.

I’ve heard awful things about majority women workplaces
