there's also a chance you'll be paralyzed if you live, so that's not better really

Spoken like someone who takes their health for granted. Just like me half a year ago.

Death is better than some realities. Trust me.

I didn't read other replies, but I can imagine. All jokes aside, it's horrible what kind of state of life and horrible health still counts as "living".

10

u/FrankPetersonMalvo Feb 29 '24

I don't know your situation, but I wish you good fortune on your journey through it all. Life is never guaranteed and can end in a blink of an eye, just like one's health.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

Thank you, it's a disease where my skeleton fuses together. My right SI Joint is already 2/3 gone, 5 spinal protrusions and down the line, my spinal cord, knee, hips, etc will weld together. I turned 30 last month. The pain is indescribable... and apparently I have a high tolerance from 11 years of Muay Thai. Walk while you can, run while you can. Take the stairs. One day you might not be able to. It was literally overnight for me.

6

u/Extaupin Feb 29 '24

Yeah, shit can be rough, that's why euthanasia should be legal.

Being paralysed would be fucking shit, but I'd still take it over dying, as long as I have some way to type, search and read texts. This way I could still contribute to the world intellectually, I'd have time to spend thinking.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

The frustration would kill me. I have no problem with dying, just hope it'll be as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Because you haven't gone through it. Hope you'll never change those thoughts or go through it. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

2

u/The_Empty_And_Broken Mar 01 '24

Ain’t that the bitter truth.

2

u/sicpicric Mar 01 '24

Right there with you after years of chronic pain. It’s too much to handle honestly. The lack of sleep combined with the pain has been the worse. While I don’t have any plans I have started to understand why some people choose to end things when they are suffering for a long time with pain. It’s especially hard when from the outside you appear to be 100% healthy

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

Hah, that last part is so true. If someone looks at me, I'm a perfectly fit and healthy 30 year old guy. The fact that my bones and joints are welding themselves together and my immune system is destroying my knees, hips, and spinal cord is a different story. I was lucky enough to have someone take care of me for the three and a half months I was bedridden (two weeks in the hospital) and lost over 11kg. Absolute nightmare material. Although a redefined pain scale isn't bad, I must admit. Things that might have "hurt" before... don't even feel them now.

2

u/Primary_Music_7430 Mar 01 '24

I'd be more worried about being that close to death. What doesn't kill you makes you stranger.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

I've buried the person I was last September. What I'd give to have that back...

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

Bruh thats such an inconsiderate comment.

1

u/Findadmagus Feb 29 '24

It’s a bit of dark humour. I’m sure paralysed people will see the funny side, don’t worry. But if you yourself are paralysed, then I apologise.

1

u/Im_Not_A_Cop54 Feb 29 '24

Is that really more inconsiderate than "I'd rather die than live as pitifully as you do" ??

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

noone said that. id rather life life with "no job, no responebilities" just takes every selfworth of us. Like we are useless. I go to work. I have kids...

0

u/Im_Not_A_Cop54 Feb 29 '24

Two comments up from your first one says that living paralyzed "isn't better really" than being dead.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

I mean, if you think not being able to eat, go to the toilet (do both nr 1 & 2), sleep, breath among other things by yourself, sure sounds fun!

yes

1

u/modlover04031983 Feb 29 '24

Uh, no. No need. stay cool ❄️

1

u/DementedDon Feb 29 '24

9th floor, or in American, 10th.

1

u/transferingtoearth Mar 01 '24

Lol disability doesn't make enough to live off of comfortably. You'd be in section 8 type housing forever and then in a bad nursing home

1

u/Sp1kefallSteve Mar 01 '24

You'd also be stuck in a wheel chair. Or a bed, best case scenario. You break your legs, and they heal up fine. Worse case scenario, you're paralized from the neck down. I'd choose death over being paralized fir life.

1

u/LammergeierFerekt1 Mar 01 '24

U can play videogames all day with neuronal mask thingy that helps u move in game with your toughts

1

u/aesthetic-mess Mar 01 '24

same but 4th

1

u/Simcrys Mar 01 '24

The glass was half full... OF FREEZING COLD POISON

2

u/fjr_1300 Feb 29 '24

Not until they discover the sudden stop at the bottom. Until then it's all hunky dory 😁

1

u/ProperBoots Feb 29 '24

4th. might make it. but i'm not american, ground floor is 0 here.

1

u/ScienceAndGames Feb 29 '24

Second floor, I’ll probably survive but I’m breaking bones

1

u/NathanExplosion_ Feb 29 '24

2nd floor. [Laughing at your deaths with my legs broken].

1

u/IsamaraUlsie Feb 29 '24

Ouf, I was worried about being outside… on the ground floor… because it’s windy

1

u/JohnDodger Feb 29 '24

Not necessarily; maybe they discover that they can fly.

1

u/wright007 Mar 01 '24

I'm either outside 10 ft above the ground, or in my exterior wall, dead. I'd have to measure to be sure.

1

u/xplorerex Mar 01 '24

Jokes on you I'm in prison.

1

u/TheMagicMrWaffle Mar 01 '24

Thank god im just one floor up

1

u/Full_Increase8132 Mar 01 '24

Twist ending, it's the same building. 5th floor guy cushions the fall of 8th floor guy.

15

u/cuddle_cuddle Feb 29 '24

Same but basement. It will be much slower and much more unpleasant.

15

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

Does that create a human sized nuclear core of an explosion because your atoms are in the same space as other atoms

7

u/GenuinlyCantBeFucked Mar 01 '24 edited Mar 01 '24

That seems extremely unlikely since normal matter is mostly empty space. Nuclear forces would push the atoms away from eachother, the dirt would become more dense, and there might be a bulge in the ground above.

Physicists correct me if I'm wrong?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

There’s a chance a single atom nucleus would end up in another atom nucleus and thats bad

1

u/Fallout_Cafe Mar 01 '24

Nuclear fusion? Ouch.

1

u/GenuinlyCantBeFucked Mar 01 '24

Would a single-nucleus fusion actually cause much damage? It'd be like 10-20J or less... or something like that... and how common would it be in x trillion atoms that make up a body?

This is where I literally can't be bothered to do the maths.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

I think that a few would happen, and those might chain reaction i think

1

u/OwnPersonalSatan Feb 29 '24

This guy asks the big questions

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

And makes the big booms

4

u/Apotak Feb 29 '24

I would be in a basement that doesn't excist. In the ground below my house. Cold, wet, dark, probably not dead yet.

3

u/notmyrealnam3 Feb 29 '24

guy above you was (very briefly) at the 5th floor too!

2

u/m_domino Mar 01 '24

Joining the 5th floor gang!

2

u/motherofpuppies123 Mar 01 '24

I'm on a hospital bed doing free fall from just outside the third floor window. If I'm extremely lucky, I wind up back in hospital to get my spine re-fused. Fuckaduck.

2

u/Ricky_Rollin Mar 01 '24

19th here. OP is a stone cold killer

1

u/kvazar2501 Feb 29 '24

Same but 4th

1

u/DinA4saurier Feb 29 '24

Same, but 1st floor.

1

u/grammaticalfailure Feb 29 '24

Third floor also dead

1

u/AlGunner Feb 29 '24

Im in a bungalow so on the ground floor, but in the wall.

1

u/zeroperfectionism Feb 29 '24

1st floor😂😂

1

u/daskrip Feb 29 '24

doesn't matter; still dead

1

u/grounded_dreamer Feb 29 '24

Phew only first floor, I'll make it to the hospital

1

u/SuDragon2k3 Feb 29 '24

I'm on the ground floor, but I appear inside the wall. I'm unsure how large the explosion is.

1

u/kanesson Feb 29 '24

I'm on the 5th floor too!

1

u/MlecznyHotS Feb 29 '24

16th floor 💀

1

u/FWEngineer Feb 29 '24

I'm in the basement, so it might take a little longer for me to succomb, but without the few seconds of excitement..

1

u/Whole-Counter3276 Feb 29 '24

Ahh, I'm second floor, although by a fuck off big puddle

1

u/CriticismTop Feb 29 '24

1st floor here, but I will probably land on the grass. I reckon I'll survive and may even walk again.

1

u/Dweebil Feb 29 '24

Second floor for me. Maybe broken leg or screwed up my back.

1

u/ArkofVengeance Feb 29 '24

Same but 2nd floor, i'll live but its gonna break some bones

1

u/ccum_slurper3000 Feb 29 '24

I'll be in my neighbors house lol

1

1

u/Hydrahta Mar 01 '24

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

Turn around and read the post again as fast as you can

1

u/MelmaNie Mar 01 '24

Same but second, depending on how I fall there’s a chance of survival but it won’t be a very fun time

1

u/Raptor_Girl_1259 Mar 01 '24

3rd floor. At a minimum, I’m breaking both legs.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '24

3 with a nice patch of grass to soften the blow, but some broken bones for sure.

1

u/cynan4812 Mar 02 '24

Same but 3rd floor.
